Davey...here's part of a ride I did about 3 weeks ago. Some of it covers that area AtticusFinch described in his post. It had been a few years since I was over this ground and was reminded how diverse and stunning this part of Idaho is. Zoom in between West Yellowstone and Ashton and you'll see a little jog off the highway...Mesa Falls Scenic Pkwy. Definitely recommended. https://www.google.com/maps/dir/West...43.6365693!3e0

OK, you guys are going more north. Any recommendations in South Idaho?
So going through Lowman and west will be slow huh. How far is that? You would need to take this road west to McCall or else you have to go way south and around the way it looks. North of Jackson I have been. I don't mind 80-90. Don't really want anything warmer but we can't help that. Thanks guys for the replies. Leave in 2 weeks so it's good to get my ducks in a row
So can you get to Idaho city by road 307 over by Emmit and go north instead of coming into Idaho City from Boise? I looked at the road conditions map and looks like 11 miles from Boise to Idaho city is down to 1 lane and rock on it. I don't mind one lane but hate rock
Why wouldn't you just go west on 17 at Lowman as I suggested earlier? Takes you right to 55. Then it's a hop and a skip to Emmett, if that's where you want to go.

If you want to go through Emmett then take Hwy 52 (Not bad scenery) to Hwy 55, you can go North to Banks (you can tell you're there by the tiny store with lots of cars around). Then take Hwy 17 to Lowman. Hwy 17 is another scenic road. That will take you to Hwy 21, which you could take South to Idaho City. Don't know how much of 21 is tore up though.
You'll have to forgive me Davey I can't remember where all you wanted to go.
If you wanted to skip the Boise area (and the Harley dealership) Emmett is the way to go. If you wanted to hit the Boise area then you can skip Emmett and go through Horseshoe Bend on Hwy 55 to Banks. You'll miss the Black Canyon Scenic drive going that way. You can still hit Boise and Emmett if you want, just a little back tracking is all.

Also, you can check out "Rallies and Rides" on youtube to see some stuff that is around here. He filmed an episode on Emmett to Horseshoe Bend (Hwy 55) on there also.
