I have not been to Sturgis but there are a lot of vendors at B B & BBQ. For people watching, it is billed as the biggest family friendly rally so I doubt it is as wild as Sturgis.
Sturgis like. the vendors spread out to the various campgrounds and downtown on dickson street. Dickson is closed to 4 wheel traffic and is a great place to watch the bikes and people parade by, non stop until wee hours...
The riding around the area gets bogged down as there seems to be a lot of bikes up there lately. Hiway 23 is a must see and you are not far from the Oklahoma( talihena to Mena, ar) hiway 1 ride. Eureka is also a must see, mt Judea, magazine mountain, etc..great riding in arkansas, the best in the country!
The wife and i are planning to make the BBQ rally for 2015 and was wondering if it is anything like Sturgis as far as vendors and people watching. We have gone to Sturgis several times but don't actually spend much time in town we just like the riding around the Black Hills. We have only passed thru the Fayetteville area once and it appears that it would be equally as good of riding as the Black Hills just different scenery.
The rides are good,,,vendors could be better,,,,very enjoyable, but once you do Sturgis, the people watching does not compare. Very tame. Just my opinion. If you could ride on up to Table Rock lake you will not be disappointed. Ride into Branson and go to a few shows. Worth it
We are leaving Thurs morining and heading to Talimena drive, staying in Mena then up the pig trail to Fayettville Friday morning. Staying at the Days Inn just down the street from Dickson street. This will be my 2nd year. Its the only big rally I have been to so I don't have much to compare it to but I really like the riding up there and Dickson Street is fun but still tame enough to keep me out of trouble.
