Texas Road Trips
There is great riding all over the hill country, particularly around Leakey. Depending on how much time you have, keep heading west to the Big Bend area. Beautiful area, very remote, and shouldn't be too hot. Riding thru Big Bend National Park is nice and there is also the River Road to Presidio that is pretty cool.
Here's a secret, FM 315 from Palestine to Chandler.
But as mentioned the RIVER ROAD FM 170 outta the BIG BEND is KILLER.
Three Sisters, Willow loop is OK, a few good bars thrown in.
Want some fun , get some rider buddies and do a NO BAR TOO FAR run. Just pick a road , and ride til ya see a bar, stop ,have a beer, then head out again, do this until ya need to go home.
We(BFMC) did one a few yrs back, and hit 550 ( really 565) miles in 18 hrs.
We called it " THE NIFTY FIFTY 550 NO BAR TOO FAR RUN" lol!

What you like to do when you roll out? Bars? Natural spots? History?
A lot of history in old frontier towns shelbyville, san augustine over far east side. Lot of the backroads all through the lakes area, Sam Rayburn etc..., are full of curves. Used to run over there a lot when I lived in Lake Charles. Some National forest campgrounds all over, and parks on the lakes.
Lots of natural spots in the Austin hills down toward San Antonio and west. Big Bend is awesome. I guess you have ran the beaches?

I know Big Bend has been mentioned. But since you're interested in camping you'll find nothing in Texas more amazing than that campground at Chisos Basin. As I recall after summer you have to make a reservation. Get ready to see a night sky like you may have never seen....and of course the ride to Presidio-Marfa-Fort Davis loop-Alpine, etc is as good as it gets in Texas.
Thanks guys, I'll have to check out those spots, I went & backpacked Big Bend last year & wished I could've done it on the bike.
Leadbelly, Thanks for the heads up on 315, I have family in Tyler/ Flint & grew up in that area ! plan on riding out that way a lot for sure. it's been YEARS since I've went exploring back roads out there.
road king Q, all the above, Ride out to a cool scenic spot, check out some Texas history spots & grab a cold beer & burger is right up my ally !
What I was wondering is people could post where are some good spots to stop & camp at. or rest at ? from there i'll kinda connect to dots of places & ride out.

Jim Wylie camp ground at Lake Greeson in southwest Arkansas. Beautiful country with lots of good riding. Camp sites have electricity. Hot showers and toilet facilities are cleaned daily. Close to Daisy, Arkansas.
