I have a set of long guns on a 2k sportster with bigcity thunder baffles.I bought them from a local indy shop in Feb.'01 they look, sound, and perform great. From the sound of things I feel lucky.
i checked on your stream and found out you tried to use the starter bracket when in our instructions it clearly states to remove the starter bracket since it is no longer needed. to bolt a set of pipes so close to the head is just wrong. the engine grows in height when hot and the pipe needs to go with the head, not be bolted down to keep it from floating with the engine. all starter brackets are obsolete with a true dual exhaust system since they mount too close to the head. we learned that back in 1995 and have not used the starter bracket ever since, it causes failure in the exhaust from undo stress, just like the stock system does on the 08 and older models. please if you have a set of our crossover pipes on your dresser or road king model remove the starter support bracket for the exhaust. the only problems we have had is when someone refuses to remove the bracket. it only takes two bolts to remove the bracket and then replace the bolts. simple and as easy as that. i only wish we were on HD forums back in 08 so we would be able to help you.

JR looks to be bending over backwards to apologize for some people that dont even work at his company anymore. Seems like a pretty good guy to me. I am seriously considering some hellraisers for my '10 wideglide, just not sure if I can afford them right now.
I have the samson hellraisers. Absolutely love them! They growl and are deep and look great, sound great, did I say I absolutely love them?
My husband installed them for me in less than 45 minutes, that's how easy they were to install. And they clean up easily if something get's spilled on them, like oil....
I didn't buy my pipes from JR but he did answer every single stupid question I had. Which were several questions about almost every pipe they sell. He was great, thorough and I have no complaints about him. I got my pipes for less than $600 I can't remember where but I could find out if necessary.

I had a set of Street Sweepers on one of my old bikes. I had a problem with the front heat shield breaking the mounting tab off. I called Samson and they were very helpful with the problem. The only problem I had with them was the didn't have a heat shield in stock. after three weeks and a few phone calls a new complete set of pipes showed up on my doorstep. I have no problems with Samson or their pipes.

I put a set of samsons on a kawasaki meanstreak I had before I got my wide glide. They sounded great and I had no problems at all.I would have put some on my Wide Glide but I thought they are a little overpriced compared to some other brands.
I like the sound of the Street Sweepers on my 07 Dyna, but with only 20,000 miles on the pipes a couple of the welds holding on the heat shields have broken causing a bad rattle. I think I will look into V&H at this point.
