I just went from a 2008 FLHRC to a 2014 CVO Road King. I can't stand the new WindSplitter windshield. All I get is the buffeting effect around my ears. Can't dampen it with anything. I know this windshield is shorter than my old RK windshield, but I can imagine that will cause the buffeting. Anyone else experience this? I wonder if it's from air coming through the vent? Any input? Thanks,
Does it change when you close the vent or adjust it? I have no issues with buffeting on mine, I'm only 5ft 8, so maybe optimal height. There is more wind, but its clear air, get more flies on my visor than I did with the Heritage screen, but no buffeting at all
with the vent opened or closed. I have the vent covered with duct tape at the moment, but it's been too windy up here to tell if that helps or not. Thanks for the reply.

Same here (12" Windsplitter on RGS). It's the design & shape of the shield. It deflects wind off your face from the taller center section but allows wind to come over the curved, lower sides of the shield rushing past your shoulders/ears. Wearing earplugs helps. I also tried a 15" Windsplitter and the wind effect was the same as the 12" version (for me).
I'm just waiting until Windvest brings out a 2015 shield to replace it. Windsplitter looks good on the bike but after riding behind my Windvest shield on my 11 RGU, I want the same wind deflection on my RGS.
I had the same issue at first when I went from an 2013 ultra limited to the 2014 CVO Road King, but I expected more air in the face due to minus the fairing and lowers. I played with the vent and it only works by leaving the vent open and you will have to play with the angle of the vent flap depending on your height. I'm 5'11" and opened it up somewhere about a 1/4" to say 1/2" and it's works well. When it's closed it causes too much head buffeting. I wear a Harley half helmet with a visor, sunglasses with the wind gasket, and sometimes ear plugs. The helmet visor actually helps reduce the wind buffeting. When it's cooler out I wear 3/4 Bell Custom 500 with a bubble shield and that combo's perfect cutting through the wind. I really only like a windshield just to catch some of the bugs or an occasional rock not really for the wind issues. I'm not planning on traveling cross country anymore so I got rid of the ultra limited where you may want more wind protection.
