Default production dates

I have ordered a Cvo limited and stipulated (for personal reasons) that it would have a built date 2015.
My dealer called yesterday and told me that they could not get one built in 2015.
He told me that: A. They are all built in '14 and B. Why does it matter, there is no date stamped on the frame?
Can anyone with a Cvo limited confirm that there is indeed no date/year stamped on the frame?
Thanks guys.
Scaredofrain.

I'll chime in as i have ordered before. Basically I ordered in July 2002 for a 2003 Glide. I was told bikes are built in 4 Phases and mine would be a phase 2, 2003 built in March 2003. Anyway the only number stamped on my frame is the VIN which includes year of manufacture.

2010 – 2014
17 digit VIN on frame; abbreviated VIN on engine
1
st three digits – Domestic/International: (see chart below)
4
th digit: Weight Class: 1 = Heavy Weight, 4 = Light Weight, 8 = Sidecar
5
th and 6th digit: Model Designations (see chart below for all model designations)
7
th digit: Engine Type (see chart below for all engines)
8
th digit: Introduction (see chart below for dates/countries)
9
th digit: Check Digit: can be 0 – 9 or X
10
th digit: Year of Manufacture: A – E = 2010 – 2014, respectively
11
th digit: Assembly Plant (see chart below)
12
th - 17th digits are production numbers

Cheers for that Twins. My ultra has a sticker with the month and year it was built and I just feel that if I buy a bike, model '15 registered first in '15 it should not be showing anywhere that it was built in 2014.

You don't use the information that's on the frame to tag and register a bike, You use what's on the title.

I know that. Like I said, it feels wrong to me to buy a bike, delivered in April 2015, model 2015 but with a sticker or stamp giving the built date 2014.
When I ordered the bike, and before I handed over deposit ŕnd my 07 ultra, I was guaranteed that the new bike was going to be built in 2015.
They now tell me that this is not so. Paying over $50k I want to be the one who decides what I get and not being told porkies.

I really don't see where you're coming from on this. It'll take it that long to get across the "Pond" and go through Customs. So, if you had to choose between a bike that happened to be completed on the 30th of December 2014 and there was another exact bike that was completed on the 2nd of Jan.2015 you'd take which?

I didn't realize you could order a CVO. I thought they were handed out to dealers based on their sales performance. High volume dealers get more while smaller shops get less. Is that not true, or is the truth somewhere in the middle?

I haven't gone over my bike with a fine tooth comb, but I'm 99% sure they aren't any dates stamped on the bike. My bike had a bunch of parts stickers that weren't caught during the PDI, but they were just stickers.

Hi. To each their own of course but your log book (in UK they are your ownership/registration docs) will say 2015, your license plate will be for a 2015 bike (provided it is registered after a certain date) and it will always be a 2015 model. Like you I am demanding when it comes to getting the things I want, especially when they cost a lot of money but I am afraid I have to say I'm not quite getting your objections. I especially don't get that you seem willing to accept it but only if there is no way for anyone to find out by looking at the VIN.If you don't care why should you be interested in what 'others' think. Sorry not trying to be objectionable, just giving my Ł0.02 worth.

Hey Scaredofrain:
I know what you're saying, and while it may seem trivial to most, I bought a new dodge dually as a 40th b-day gift for myself in 2005, and the door tag said built in 10/04. I still own the truck, but it's drove me nuts to this day. lol

I ordered mine. Won't ship until 11/21. My dealer (only one shop) gets 16 cvos each year. 4 of each model. They're normally all sold by the end of March. Even the ones they haven't received yet. There's some multi store STEALERS close by also that like to mark them up like crazy. They usually have them sitting there at the end of the model year.
