I have a 07 Ultra CVO...I have added a set of Python slip on's and it sounds great. Question I have is does anyone know if I need to re-map, Stage I...i asked the dealer and he was not sure. i asked about the air cleaner and he said that the bike comes with the high flow air filter. Dealer caller HD and they said it should not be re-mapped, it is Ok to add the slip on's the bike is already map for this.
Does anyone have any info on this. i was thinking of doing something with the air filter but by what my dealer says it won't do anything if I do and at this point they seemed a little confused if it should be re-mapped.
With the 02 sensors on your bike, it doesn't need a re map but it does run lean and will be even more lean if you change the mufflers or intake to a better breathing unit. I can say this that if you use a fuel enriching device like a TFI, PCIII, SERT or similar, it will run better than stock.
I had the same questions. The stock air filter is not a high flow filter, they have just added three extra holes that allows more air to flow into the filter. I changed to an Arlen Ness Big Sucker, added Vance and Hines oval slip ons and installed a PC III with the M812-025 download that came with the bike. After installing the O2 eliminators the bike seems to run very good, and it sounds very good. I would think you should consider upgrading the air filter and installing some sort of ECM upgrade. I had an 05 ultra that had a SERT installed at delivery, and living in Oklahoma, I could not find anyone that knew how to work on the SERT, and I was not happy with it because I could not figure out how to make it work. The PC III works fine for me and the local independents can dyno-tune with it but right not sure I really need to spend the money to get it tuned as the bike runs and sounds great. I hope this helps, but the real answer to your question is that the stock air filter is not a high flow filter, it bothers me that most of the dealers don't know much about the new SE's, as each one will give a different opinion. I have an 07 SE UC and I love my bike!
If you in fact are running leaner you may want an adjustment as not to end up causing valve detonation and othe damage. better to have it checked for a few bucks than pay out the *** later for the sake of rumnning in that condition.
I have a 07 SERK and my air cleaner housing is wide open, the element is totally exposed 360 degrees. However I am getting conflicting advice regarding upgrades. I believe my housing is fine and I should just replace the paper element with a K@N. Does anyone else agree?
The SERK and SE ULTRA have different types of air cleaners, the dealer that I got mine from had both bikes and I saw them back to back. The SERK only needs a new high flow filter and the SE ULTRA ( like I have)needs a complete unite like the AN big sucker. The dealer informed me that with slip ons only, no re map is needed, but if you change afyou will need to remap. All sorts of remap threads on this and the touring forum.
