Default De cat question

Just acquired 2015 cvo SG. How much different is sound with stock mufflers and a de-cat exhaust ? Is it much louder ? Like 50/50 ?

Question 2: how about anyone with v&h power duals and stock SE mufflers ? What that sound like ? Should I have it Dyno'd too ? I'm a newbie to cvo..

I have stock unmodified mufflers on my flhxse3, 2012 SG CVO. Headers are Cobra Power Port, same as the S&S.

Sound is just a little louder, not intrusive. But I don't like loud.

A decatted head pipe should be similar in sound to mine. Passengers like it a lot.

Problem with a decatted head pipe is getting a good read on your 02 sensors. So it is a cheap compromise, done to save money. Loke folks say, you bought a 40,000 motorcycle....get a good set of headers, or an sport pipe from` Fullsac.

Cobra power port headers are under 400 bucks.

A dyno tune is a good thing under all circumstances. Even a stage one with dyno is better than a stage 1 without.

Had the supertrapp stealth on mine, sound was great, removed haed pipe and installed stainless steel header pipe (Danmoto) and was to loud, punched center of cvo mufflers through and decibles much improved.

What are you trying to do?
1. Have louder sound? Might just need to try different after market mufflers. Wont need tuning etc.
2. Have bike run cooler? Get a true dual system and get it tuned right. Decatting headers is a cost effective way of getting halfway there,
3. Improve performance? On a cvo bike, most people just upgrade the exhaust, cams and fuel management system. If you are not worried about factory warranty, you can tear the engine apart and upgrade components. Why you would buy a $40k bike and do that is beyond me but different strokes for different folks!
Dynojet has great info for anyone wanting to learn about fuel management systems for Delphi Harley's. Check out this link.

I am using fuelmoto cat less headers with the factory mufflers on my 2012 Cvo sg. I really like the sound of it. Not loud but can hear it just fine. No interference with my tues either. I did have it Dyno tuned. I did go with the K&N ac.
Like the sound, performance, without any ringing in me ear.

Just a wild guess but I think maybe 10% more sound.
It is a touring bike so I don't see spending dollars for things that I really don't need.
I went to cat less headers first to see if I wanted more volume. I don't need or want more volume.

No intention to tear up a perfect CVO just looking for a little more rumble ,looks like step one is to go catless and to give a good tune to address heat and pinging .Then If not loud enough will look at new header and mufflers.

If you get a cat less header it will not be neccissary to do headers again. I would keep my factory header as is. Never know what changes could take place now a days.
Then go to slip ons.
I ,doubt you are thinking a full system. If you are unless your wanting all you can get, but just for some cooling and better sound save your money on full system. This is just a suggestion.
