Default Miles between Oil changes?

do you guys follow the factory 1,000 mile, 5.000 mile, 10,000 mile between oil and filter changes on the ultra? I have a 07 SE Ultra and It seems extreme.

What do you think?

Scott

I do mine about every 2500 to 3000 miles. Even with synthetic I prefer to do it earlier then later. Guess I'm a little paranoid about getting dirty oil.

Have typically performed oil changes every 2500-3000 miles, but with synthetic and seeing how clean the oil is after 3K miles, I'm switching to the recommended factory intervals... 5K, 10K, etc. Have read nothing but "no problems" from those doing so.

If you use a quality synthetic oil like Amsoil or Mobil 1 Vtwin, you're dumping perfectly good oil out if you do it more often than suggested intervals. If I used Syn 3, well....I wouldn't use the crap in my bike, so won't even go there.

I'm old school re break-in. I literally baby the bike it's first 500 miles, then drop all fluids and go w/ Syn. From there, every 5k miles. I'm on HD # 8 and I live in the So Fla market where temps get hot, and I've never had an issue.
