The SE tuner in the hands of a competent tuner with a dyno is one of the best available for the money. I only tell it like it is and try not to sugar coat anything to people that ask. I also tend to look at things from more than one perspective to answer a question that others don't see.

Big difference with 103" vs 110" when it comes to HEAT & NOISE.

More Cubes, More Heat. Pretty normal.
Changing headers, pipes, and Turner (Dyno) will make a big difference as well in heat!

Noise in 110" is pretty normal too, in a sense that they have always been nosier then 103" motors. The Valve springs, SE255 cams, SE Lifters, 110" Heads, open Stage 1 Air Filter, etc, etc. ALL combined have notoriously made the 110's much louder.

Unfortunately, (if I am correct) the 2012 CVOs had the WORST SE LIFTERS installed from stock!
Lots of folks with that model years complained about them motors being very loud.

Isn't the 2016 CVO Street Glide still air cooled?
That's the model your asking about right? I think you'll be in fine shape!!!

I ride a 12 CVO SG, Andrews 57 cam. Ticking when hot drove me crazy, had GMR replace the CVO heads' valve springs and noise is gone.

CVO's do not come with SE lifters, just the same old -99c lifters all the other bikes get, but with those heavy valve springs, lifters are a weak link. Not sure what lifters are in Rushmore bikes. Water jacket might reduce noise some.

As for engine heat, never has been a problem on any of my bikes after a competent dyno tune.

I do not like the dash and infotainment system on the new bikes so will wear out my 12. I just wish I had those linked brakes.

I've talked to two different guys at HD Dealers that do the tuning with the SE tuners. They said the exact same thing, they put in the closest match for what's on the bike, and that it would take 10-15 hours to do a tune that takes 20 minutes on a power commander.

With that said, I can't imagine why anyone would keep or buy the SE tuner.

Had an 11 SG with the 103. It was hot but nothing at all like my 15 CVO SG which runs so friggin hot it is averaging oil temps of 275. If the wet heads cool this thing down I can't imagine how hot it is without.

I always wear long pants or chaps or an Aerostich 2 piece. Regardless I was unable to leave my right foot down without getting baked. I put Love Jugs on before an 8500+ mile trip this summer and that made a slight difference---now average about 255 degrees oil temp.

Regardless of how hot it is running the power has been phenomenal---even at altitudes of 10,000 ft. Thank God for fuel injection---never want to go back to screwing around with carbs. Sorry--went off track from the thread.

Bottom line is I realize the stock set up just isn't going to work and I need to pay more money to fix the exhaust, get rid of the catalytic converter and get it retuned...

Any "Technician" who says it takes 10-15 hours to tune two cylinders is either incompetent, trying to take your money, or both!

A good tuner can, depending on your set up, can fine tune your bike in 2-4 hours. In Nor Cali it will cost $395 for a dyno by one of the best tuners in the country (Dyno Bob).

Sorry my bust, you are correct about SE lifters!

I was thinking about when I upgraded to SE camplate/oil pump and Andrews cams. I got some new SE lifters installed as well.

I had a 2013 CVO SERK and the engine ran hot and made a lot of noise. All was normal of course. Now have a 2015 SESG and with the liquid cooled heads, it runs so much cooler, my right leg loves that. I also noticed that the ticking is much quieter. Very happy with this machine. The big difference I notice in performance is when the engine is hot I do not have a sluggish motor like the 2013.

10 - 15 hours to tune a bike….seriously?

If it takes someone that long they won't be touching mine.

Theres nothing wrong with the SE tuner….its one of the most accurate on the market.

First 110 CVO for me. Other bike is a 14 Ultra Limited which was not hot at all when stock. The new 15 Street Glide seemed very hot on the right side the first two weeks it was stock. After putting on Vance and Hines dresser dua

ls and the Cobra mufflers, it is not hot at all on my leg and runs very well.

Really beautiful bike! I've seen a couple of them at different dealers and always found myself gravitating back to Carbon Crystal with Phantom Flames.
