Default Antenna

Just bought a 2001 cvo Road Glide. I"m having a problem with radio reception. The reception is low, and when I disconnect the cable under the travel trunk that comes from the antenna on the trunk, it doesn't make any difference, so I know there's an open somewhere in the antenna cable. Does anyone have any ideas what could be going on. Has anyone else had a problem with radio reception on their 2001. Is there any other splices in the cable other than the one under the trunk ? I'm thinking it comes directly out of the radio and the first and only splice is that one. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am not sure what you mean by splice. The cable is one piece with a connector to the radio on one end and connector to the antenna on the other. If by splice you mean that someone fixed the cable and taped it, then you need a new cable, they are around $15.

On the 2001 CVO Road Glide in order to take the trunk off you have a short cable that goes from the truck to the splice on the frame, when you want to remove the truck, you have unhook the antena at the frame, remove the travel trunk and put a antena on the area where you unhooked the cable.
I hope I explained this clearly.

That was part of the detachable tour pak kit, not sure if stock on cvo's, When you take the tourpak off you screw the antenna onto the "splice" as you call it. If reception sucks with it screwed onto the splice, main cable is probably bad. Mike
