08 cvo springer paint fiasco
I need help from you cvo guys. My stepson bought an 08 cvo springer 7 months ago. His tank paint sends to be different from any other cvo of that year. Sorry about the pic but hoping some one will be able to take a look. His tank seems to be missing the gold marbling that is on the fenders and seems to be every other bike like his that he looks up. He's beginning to think some one put a different tank on his bike but I'm wondering if it's possible that some of these had less marbelling on the tanks than others.
Does any one know the answer to this? He's driving me crazy! !

It looks a though the PO had the tank repainted for some reason, and as the MoCo won't give out the paint codes for the CVO line, the painter that did the work was unable to match the paint or match the process of doing the marbling so it exactly matched the style used by the MoCo. The previous owner then didn't want to or couldn't afford to have the whole set of tins repainted.

CVO bikes are "custom" painted.. When i was looking into them I was told the marbeling and lacing paints were individually unique.
Oldenough has more then likely hit the nail on the head (as is usually the case!)
I would double check everything else to make sure something else isn't missed

yes mate , that's well different to stock on a Black Diamond 2008 FXSTSSE2 CVO Springer.
You can see no "metal grind" on the tank , where the raw metal has (16?) coats of laquer.
I think that's what you are calling "marbling"
It's a repaint , most likely post accident damage I would think.
I have one of these in that exact colour ( sorry "color" haha..) here in Perth western Australia
Mine looks exactly like your second photo
