08 cvo springer paint fiasco
I have seen those tanks on ebay etc before now.
They are all "individual" to a certain extent in that they are hand finished and painted to a close general theme.
To get "new" CVO paint from the MOCO needs a 3 month order AND the old set handed in I do believe , that's why folks have them painted locally most usually.
And not being picky , but both the OP's photos are of 2008 CVO Springers , model designation FXSTSSE2 in Black Diamond and Metal Grind
When I wanted to do hard bags for my 07 CVO RK I contacted both places. The place in Cali told me they were done with CVO stuff and were not interested. The place in the mid-west said they would do it, but don't even bother asking about lead time as it would be months.
I finally found a guy in Washington, "Big Fatty's" he does CVO stuff for customers all over the world. He did both the bags and absolutely nailed it, marbling and all. It wasn't cheap, but was worth it.
This was 4 years ago, but I doubt much has changed in the CVO paint world.
