Default Seat mods

Anyone have their stock CVO seat moded for more comfort, and by who/how?

I only lasted a week with mine before it was too uncomfortable for any rides over an hr, Wife also said she noticed hers wasn't as comfortable as our SG seat on previous bike. It feels as if Im seating on a flat piece of foam with no distinction between cheeks and tailbone cushioning. So I bought a SG seat and am using it, plus it allows for my riders backrest to be used. Have seen 1 brand of those available. I may try to copy and improve on it. (tool and die maker by trade)

Thanks

I recently bought a '16 CVO Road Glide Ultra. I wanted to lower the seat, move the seating position back, narrow the front of the seat, and keep the stock cover. I am 5'9", and just slightly too short to comfortably flat-foot. At some point I may opt for an aftermarket seat, but I like the appearance of the stock CVO upholstery, and am not ready yet to have to re-upholster the passenger seat-back to keep it matched to an aftermarket seat's upholstery detail. So, I decided to go this route and see....

There were suggestions in various threads on this forum, and I checked them out. Some wouldn't work on CVO seats, others didn't want to do what I wanted. Finally checked with Astech Seats, located in Indiana. Pat responded to my email and was helpful explaining what they could do, after I gave them my personal measurements.

So, I sent my seat a week ago last Friday. They are lowering the seat 1.5", moving the seating position back .75", narrowing the front of the seat, and keeping my stock cover. In addition, they installed a foam and gel section in the driver seating position. I rarely carry a passenger, so I did not foam/gel the passenger section of the seat, but that was an option. In addition, the seat heater remains functional. Search YouTube for Astech Seats, and you will pull up a clip of the process they use.

They finished my seat last Friday and shipped it back out. Cost with return shipping is $250, and it will be delivered tomorrow. I'll post pics and comments when I get it back. But the "process" of getting this done, and the turn-around, has been quite satisfactory.

I heard years ago about Mean City Cycles, they are probably the most popular seat modifier. Very professional. I had 2 seats modified on my ultras because I am 5'7 and needed narrow, lower mod. This time of year though, there is a waiting list. They pencil you in and tell you to have it there by a certain day. Then on the day it is scheduled, they modify it, and it is back in the mail to you. Reasonable price and lots of modifications.

Just googled Astechs, just a little under 2 hrs away from me That'd be worth a drive to talk to them. I also want to keep my CVO skins, just gotta do something to the foam. I'm
Not wanting to move my position any. A winter project, so be awaiting your review of the work.

Yes I've read of Mean City and all the positive reviews. Kinda of hoping someone had their CVO seat foam worked on and how it worked out since the seat is fairly thin from the start

Thanks

I also read the positive reviews on MCC, and actually called them first. They told me on the phone that they did not work on CVO seats. They said they would build a replacement, but would not modify one. You might want to inquire separately, but that is what I was told when I called.

Default Update to Astech seat mods

Before and after pairs of photos from different perspectives.

Quality of work appears excellent. Retained the stock appearance I wanted. Retained seat heater functionality. Enables me to comfortably flat foot with bike fully upright. Have not taken seriously long ride on new gel/foam, but certainly comfortable during a couple 2-3 hour rides. Will update that aspect when possible. $256, including return shipping.

that is a good looking seat. Is the the CVO Limited Hammock Heated seat? I had checked with MCC and they could not modify the Hammock seat or the CVO seat on my SG
