Hey guy's, been considering an upgrade. Was planning to do it next year but kinda getting excited with the new engine and electronics. (especially since my riding buddy just got his!) I know what NADA and KBB say but what do you guys think the real-world-worth of my bike is.
2012 Ultra CVO in excellent condition. 28k miles, new battery, tires in good to excellent condition. No issues, none. V&H Monster Oval slip-ons.
The obvious is = whatever someone will pay that you agree to.
Reality, while it is a beautiful bike, the M8's you desire have dropped the value of Twin Cams and that includes CVO's - perhaps even more.
In our area, Southeast Texas, you'd do well to get what you are showing as trade in. Too many pre 17s on the market.
you did your homework checking Nada probably ask a couple dealers they have their with own book which may have a larger affect on you . I have never seen that color combination , I before i really like. I would guess there are so few transactions on your 2012 CVO its hard to pinpoint a price without 100 of turnovers a month.

the fact, that it's a pre-rushmore will also drop the price a little
Something I'm curious about. I wonder how easy it is to sell a newer CVO private party sale? I've thought about selling my 2016 RG but kinda feel like I'm probably stuck with it or have to trade it. I wonder how many people are willing to save 3,4,or 5k versus buying new?

3k-5k vs new M-8, I would say not many. M-8s's are killing all Twin Cam sales 3K-5K is new dollars, used would have to be a greater saving to move.

I didn't mean retail. I see 12's, 13's, and newer going for close to 30k. Obviously 12's and 13's around 25k plus and 14's 15's and even 16's for around 30k plus. I wonder if they are actually selling that high? When I was looking I found a pretty good deal on a low mileage 15. I think he was at 30k. But I figured what's another 6k more to have a new bike. I wondered what kind of trade I would get since the new M8's

Every region differs. Here NO. Only way to find out about trade-in is go to a dealer and try to strike a deal. What hey will tell you in conversation and what will put on paper are rarely the same.
I know you understand but the main # is the net $$$ difference. High trade means little if the sales price is premium.
I have a friend that just sold a 2012 cvo ultra for $15,300. Had 45,000 miles on it. The dealer sold it for him. They offered $13K trade in. Live in the Texas Panhandle and thus there aren't many buyers. People are also put off by the milage. I do like your color much better. His was orange, black and white as I recall. I am not certain that it was a 2012, but that is my recollection. His new one won't be here for a few weeks.
Will add that the trade-in offers here and in the DFW are were all less than $14,000.
