110 lifter
Op
understand how ESP works, if you experience a failure with a mechanical item in your engine, ESP will repair the damage. what they will not do is repair it as you may want, also they will not clean anything. so say you experience a lifter failure on your 110 and metal goes throughout you engine taking out the oil pump, cams, and various other items. perhaps it even cracks the lifter bore.
ESP will replace the half of the engine case that is cracked, the cams, oil pump and lifters along with all gaskets damaged during teardown , and any bearings that show damage upon inspection.
they have ZERO obligation to repair anything else. nor will they clean the oil pan, flush oil passages etc. you get the drift i hope.
so upon start up, if you have ANY metal anywhere in the engine or if any part were within service limits, like cam plate, cam chains etc, they are re used and the metail that was not cleaned out will circulate inside you freshly repaired engine under the theory that the oil filter is designed to catch this debris.
so now you have you 110 back after 4 to 6 weeks, irs got old and new parts inside and you off riding again until it happens again. got it?
if it happens under ESP, they cover again, if yoy have not modified, if it happens outside ESP, its your nickel.
so, should you replaced your lifters, your call. if the dealer does its HD lifters, if someone else does you get a better product.
your call. my opinion is biased.

I thought I was preventing more problems by having my heads done with AV&V springs, with new guides. At 23,500 miles. But...at 38,000 I had a spring break and ended up on a tow truck anyway.
The first time I did cam bearings and went with adjustable pushrods to make subsequent lifter changes a bit quicker.
