Maybe some of y'all can help me with an internal dilemma...this may sound incredibly stupid to some but i am seriously considering it...traded my 15 RGS for a 17 CVO SG...big difference in power and price of course...i immediately had buyers remorse because i loved that RGS...it was a beast and it was my beast...IMO handled much better and looks and functions better than the SG...so i have been wanting to go back to the RG...the problem here is they didn't make a cvo model last year..this year it seems impossible to get one and with the price increase..i would be throwing money out the window...ok heres the dilemma
one of my all time favorite bikes is the cvo "skunk" RG ...i have a chance to buy one but its 2012...has good dyno numbers and the bike has everything including a color matched tour pack...literally turn key...I never see them...ever...and i would be back in a dope RG
am i stupid for even considering trading my 17 for a 12 ...really just a completely different bike throughout..the skunk has only 15000 miles which doesn't bother me and was owned by the GM of my local store who happens to be a friend so i know the bike has been meticulously taken care of but what i keep going back to is..
Am I going backwards??
Im just looking for others opinions on the situation but i of course know "its my money buy whatever i want" i get that..I like the forums for the vast array of opinion so...anything would be helpful
Also factors such as what they'll offer me for my scoot is really a big one and what i can get the skunk down to..i only owe 27000 currently so i would like to get the skunk if i decide to around 24000 tops I'm thinking
If it were me and the new CVO was out of the question I would be more inclined to trade for a stage 4 RG special instead of the skunk. And I have a 16 CVO RG ultra. I've considered going that rout but waiting on my dealer to contact me about the new CVO RG. Depending on that outcome I'll probably keep my CVO and go for the new Fat bob special with the 114 for a play bike..
From everything I've read and heard the suspension is better, the motor is stronger.
I don't think you will ever get over your buyers remorse. If you are that unhappy with the new bike it won't get any better. My first Harley was a sporty and it was an impulse buy. From the time I rode it home to the day I sold it didn't really care for it. Now I have a 16 cvo sg and love it. Personally I wouldn't go back to a bike older then 14. If you can get it for a good deal, which only you know what is a good deal, and it is what will make you happy go for it. Here is a question for you, even though you don't care for the bike do you like the infotainment system? If you do can you go back to a bike that doesn't have one?
I'm a fellow Roadglider and member of The Shark Tank. Guess you didn't get the memo..... You trade in Street Glides for Road Glides not the other way around!!!
All jokes aside I wouldn't trade down below a Rushmore model touring bike. No matter if it was a shark or not trimmed with all the aftermarket goodies. I would try to sell it outright or trade it in on a New Roadglide special and just upgrade it to a CVO level bike

besides your addiction to the RG IMO you can either stick with the current perfect SG CVO or uograde to RD cvo 2018 other than that i will consider it as a downgrade. 114 to 110 ? also, your considering a 6 years old bike and you have a 1 one year old ? ahhhh its up to you but i suggest the both two scenarios mentioned above you will be in a win win situation and like the folks said if you addict to the shark nose pull the trigger to the 2018 or wait sometime to get a prefect deal on it.
... I wouldn't trade down below a Rushmore model touring bike.

........ riding a motorcycle is as much an emotional exercise as it is a physical experience.
... When/If you get to the point of CVO motorcycles, it's emotion times 10. Dollar$ have little relevance when big emotion is involved.
...... if i were in your shoes i'd gut it out w/the SG & go put a deposit on the '19 SERG your dealer will get next year.
Tough choices aren’t easy but with today’s over the top “Factory Performance”. It’s hard not to take advantage of new. And for the record when I was a kid I always wished I was born 20 years earlier thinking the “muscle car era” was the the late 60”s and early early 70’s. How wrong I was and now never dreaming I would own such incredible factory built awesome motorcycles and cars. And now the “Green” agenda (can’t stand it) is on our door step for (throw Up) electric motorcycles. Better get the ICE before it melts LOL.
