Speedo erratic
I have a 2003 Screamin' Eagle Road King. The speedometer has started going on the fritz. I will be riding and all of the sudden the speedo shuts down and the bike will die on deceleration if you do not stay on the throttle. I have already tried replacing the speedo sensor. Obviously no luck. The tach also drops out along with the odometer. Please help if anyone has any suggestions.
System Relay, TSSM, ECM.....
Could be any number of major components...
Or it could be a simple loose wire or ground.....
This is where the Electrical Diagnostics manual comes in.....

My bike's speedo acts erratic at times, so I just pull out the speedo sensor on top of the transmission and clean the gunk/shaving off. Works good as new for about 10-15,000 miles. You'll be suprised at how much gunk comes out.
Yea I have similar problem on my Sportser. It even shoots me two codes, both which indicate a bad VSS. SoI change it, same chit. Run the bike down to the Dealer and they check it out, with something called a Cutout Box? They say it passes all test, that it "may' be the speedo. WTF kinda **** is that? It "may" be the speedo? When you buy a Harley, you are on yer ferkin own if it is more than Oil Changes and Brake pads.[:@]
