Looking for some thoughts on adding the detach kit to my tour pack. Years ago I had it on an ‘06 EGC and it was nice to remove when taking shorts trips. My concern on the Limited is the amount of wires that might show when the tour pack is off. Behind the seat there are a lot of wires going to and from the tour pack. Where do all of these go when the tour pack is removed or do they stay in the same location and are visible? Any insight and maybe a picture or two with a tour pack removed from a limited would be great.
Thanks
If you have the speaker section and 17 is like 18 audio ... it will not work ! Radio head will buffer looking for the missing speakers .Although i do not know if 17 audio is the same , look into it before you make a move .
The stereo system is stage 1. One amp for four speakers in the fairing. You can remove the tour pack without losing functionality. Just fade the speakers to the front. Also I regularly remove the tour pack on my 14 cvo limited by just removing the 4 bolts. The wires curl under the seat. I think the fender looks better without the detach kit posts sticking out.
Thanks for the help.... Easy, easy easy mod and less than $100. I already have the lights on my saddlebags that run/brake/turn. It took me less than 30 minutes start to finish taking off the TP and put the saddlebags back on. I faded the sound to the front speakers and no sound issues. I’m now going to install stage 2 Boom speakers in the front and the dealer is going to flash the system to have stage 2 upfront. When I put the TP back on the rear speakers will no longer work. The only part I needed from the detach kit was the tag relocation bracket. It should be here by Tuesday.
Thanks again and ride safe
Instead of the Boom ll upgrade, which many are not happy with, do a aftermarket upgrade and that way you can then have rear speakers when you reinstall the tourpak by just plugging in the rear speakers again. Probably less expensive as well in the long run
