I guess I was just a little disappointed you pay $38k and 2 years later they offer you $22k trade in lol but on the other hand it does have 27,000 miles on it

I assume its on your 2017 CVO SG. That's a ridiculous trade offer. Find another dealer.

It’s the 114 motor option on non CVO’s that has caused the bigger than usual loss on used values.

Well we always buy at year end when the new models are already out. Got a Smokin deal at Smokin on our 2017 CVO. I buy what I like and want. You can always expect to lose money on bikes, boats and vehicles. They depreciate.

I do not see CVO’s losing valve more than other models. The percentages are similar, it is just a fact that 15% (as an example) is more on $40k then on $20k.

Those that lose BIG are those that pay over MSRP for anything. You can kiss that money good by and then obsorb the regular depreciation as well.

Just ride and enjoy!

With low mileage (about 8-10k) you are probabaly looking at $28-$29 trade, with 22k miles around $26-$27 is about right.

Honestly you just have to know your numbers prior to going in. I just picked up a 2019 Road Glide CVO for 2k over MSRP, but had them through in Legend suspension front and rear so it washes in the end. What I was offered on trade for a 2014 Road King CVO was a joke, but as I talked to them (knowing the averages sales price of the bike nation wide) I told them what I would take and think about it also mentioning their profit. I left and 2 hours later they called and gave my asking price w/ parts and labor for the suspension. In the end I got 2k less than the highest price I saw on the King and 2k less than what I paid on a RGS in January. If you go in waiting for them to give you a good deal, good luck. You have to know your numbers, stick to your bottom line and walk if they don't come close, and in the end it will average out to a decent price (for the times of course). Sales are sales and in the end the consumer is not the one that makes out, hence billions in profits even when sale are down, so make it the best you can.

When I got my CVO they specifically warned me that with the miles I put on (20,000+ annually) I should expect more depreciation than if I bought a UL or RG. I told them I would probably keep it until around 170,000 miles so it did not really matter to me.

I took advantage of the market to buy a 2010 CVO Street Glide in May...18,000 miles, 113 ci kit, satellite radio, built and tuned by GMR performance, $15,000. This bike is just getting broke in and will run with any M-8 all day. And I got lots of gas and beer money left over from what I could have spent new

It's only money... i didn't care at the time i bought my 2015 flhxs about the money. I just wanted the bike. I still don't care about the money, I really like the bike. Sure i would love to have the new 2019. Who wouldn't? But i think back to the day i walked in and saw my cvo for the first time and how much i have had fun on it over the past 27k miles and i can say i would do it all over again... no regrets here. I was lucky enough to get it new in 2015 and most likely would have lost the money on something else that wouldn't have ever brought me that much happiness. With that said i sure hope i don't need to sale it anytime soon ... lol
