Im waiting for the delivery of my 12 Factory 47 Riviera bars for my 19 RG CVO. I am planning to install them over the holidays. I havent installed bars before but Ive installed speakers, amps, exhaust and many other add ons in the past. I do my own maintenance and I have the service manual. I have watched the install video a couple of times and everything seem straight forward. Looking for any advice or insights that can be shared on your install experience.
Thanks in advance..
if you're not going to take off the tank, throw a leather jacket over it and secure it so you don't damage the paint with tool drops or handlebar drop, etc., same with the lowers and fender.
I have a Wheeldock so I left my bike upright in the dock, mounted the handlebars then did all the wire pulling. I thought that was much easier than wrestling with them on the table or floor. Just don't lose your pull or lead wire or fan beads, whichever you're using.
I didn't have to de-pin anything with the 2018 Road King but I think I would the next time. The wires can be pulled through with the smaller plugs but I think without them, may possible be a tad easier.
If you're even remotely considering heated grips do it now. I have 14" F47 and didn't really need wire extensions but used them just to be safe. You're probably fine since going 12". Cables won't be an issue at all. Have patience on the brake side wires. They don't need depinned with 1.5" bars, but may hang up, just take your time and walk away if you get frustrated. Some guys have pulled them through separately and some together, can't really say if one way is better.
I assume you already have the 12" or are familiar with them. If I had a nickel for every guy on here that said they wished they went higher......had 12" on my first bike and 14 ever since then.
Roadie13, these will be my first bars on a RG. I ran 12.5” Wild Ones on my ‘12 FLHTK and 10” on my ‘17 CVO Limited. On the Limited I always wished I would have gone with the 12.5” but never changed them. I sat on a couple RGs with Factory 47 10” and 12”. The 12” felt very comfortable so we’ll see.
Thanks for your imput.
6113, I have a J&S Jack so I plan on putting the bike on the jack on the lowest height setting for the install to keep the front end straight. I have something to cover the tank, fairing and other parts. Hoping not to have to unpin the TBW and sounds like you didn’t have to.
Thanks for your imput.
I don't know about the validity of the claim that I've read, but some have claimed that the Factory 47's run a little shorter than other manufacturers. I know I have 12" and will go 14" next time, even after sitting in the Factory 47 factory and trying them out in person.

They do run a touch shorter to me. My wild one reaperz 14" were taller than the F47 14". Not a huge difference but a difference.
I just installed bars on my '19 CVO RG (FXR Division Motorwitch bars). You don't have to remove the ignition lock. When you remove the gauge cluster, go VERY slow when removing the plugs. One of the plugs has very little slack, and you can easily pull the connectors through the plug. Aside from that, take pictures before you unplug the wires so you know where each goes. Take your time, don't rush. I would advise replacing the bushings with Gooden Tight polys. You'll need to get 2.25" riser bolts ($1.50 each at home depot) when using these bushings. When pulling the cable through, make sure you wrap them well, but not to thick, and cover with coconut oil or vaseline, they will slide through much easier. The left side is easy, the right side is a bit more difficult when you have 2 wires to work with.
A bit confused, on their site (Factory47) nothing seems to fit the 15 RGU CVO, any advise on which ones i should order ?
I'm pretty sure the 15 RGU CVO had the locator pin in the lower riser on the opposite side then the rest of the bikes, that is why they say they don't fit. You could order any and knock the pin flush and be fine.
