Just for your information.........there are calibrations for stage one on the CVOs. This, of course, is used when changing mufflers and a/c. Being as these bikes more or less have the a/c, if you change to mufflers, you can update the calibration and not engage EITMS so much. I ran my bike with fullsac baffles (only change) and at every stop the EITMS kicks in. Now, not so much.
I cant believe how lean they are making the calibration. Before the calibrations would be at an A/F ratio on the high end of the MAP scale and RPM of 12 or richer. Now they are set at 14.5. Not so sure that is best power or safe for the engine. My understanding is 13-13.5 is best for power. Oh well, once warranty is up, Powervision here we come.
Here is another thought to consider..........Harley say when you do a stage 1 that you must recalibrate the eco. Failure to do so could result in engine damage. Given the a/f listed above it could burn the exhaust valves. If that happens and the download wasn’t done I bet they disapprove the warranty claim.
A little clarification is in order- While the AFR table shows 14.4/14.5 everywhere, that only applies to the low load/cruising/idle area. This keeps EPA/CARB happy. Once you're into the higher loads/RPMs, the "Lambda Performance Enrichment Table" controls the AFR requested. This is a screen shot of the table with notes- you can see it's time based, so the longer you are under load, the richer it becomes. 0 seconds into hi load throttle request, it asks for 12.77, at 22 seconds it drops to 12.26, 24 seconds and beyond 11.74.
well thats not promising then... on older calibrations PE would just kick in at higher RPMs like 4000-ish and WOT. they could have changed that of course but it appears that there is no way to know.
