Earlier this week check engine light came on around 30 mph and went off. It came on again around 50 mph and went off. Engine also cut out once, and then ran seemingly ok. Pulled the spark plugs, and they were both brown on the center and black around the edge. Installed a new set anyway to eliminate that possibility. Rode it and check engine light came on again and went off. So, I pulled the codes and got P0261 and P1353. While looking over the wires and connections as good as one can without removing the tank, I noticed a wire with shielding stuck to the front on the rear cylinder head. When I moved the wire away, I could see that the metal shielding was still intact. I cannot see if the internal wire insulation has been damaged. Cleared the codes and rode her around the block. Checked for codes again, and still clear.
It may be just me, but it sure sounds like it still has a bit of a miss. Acceleration is good, and she starts right up. I am fairly new to the Harley family, so not sure if I am hearing an actual miss or not..LOL.
It seems to do the "miss" and flash the check engine light when first riding. After riding Saturday, the check engine cam on again after about 2 miles, then went out. Drove it 60 miles round trip and never saw the light again. Seems like it was running better after riding it longer.
