I'm a total noob on the twin cam engines as I've only driven the M8. When I took the CVO out for a spin I noticed it's a more "raw" engine as the M8. I can hear (in my opinion) a fairly hard knocking noise form what I think, the front cylinder. I'm not familiar to know how this engine should sound so before I take it back to the dealer, I'd like to hear some opinions from veteran twin cam riders.
I've read some threads about the lifter issue with this engine, would that explain the knocking noise? Any help is appreciated! It has 14k on the odometer..
dont wait for opinions, take in in to your selling dealer and have it inspected, listened to and test ridden. just explain the situation to your service manager or writer and go from there. better to have an issue addressed quickly, especially from someone that should know what they are doing.

Took it back and a tech took it for a ride.. Came back and said, no abnormal noises for this bike.. So I guess it's just me..
I have the exact same Breakout as yours and also have an M8 bike for comparison. Having also owned 3 twin cam bikes prior to the Breakout without a doubt the twin cams were noisier mechanically than the M8. Each twin cam had it's own distinct personality as far as noises go.
Go out and enjoy your Breakout, you'll find it gets a lot of attention from all kinds of people. I've had them ask who built your custom bike and I just tell them about the CVO program and the differences for example between a CVO Breakout and the standard one.
That '16 Breakout CVO should not be sounding like that. You are about to lose the rods, pistons, crank shaft, valves, push rods and cams. The catastrophic failure could kill you or minimally blow off both your legs. I feel bad for you so I will buy it from you.
Twin Cam is a noisy beast…I have owned many and still own a CVO Road King that has a 117 Stage IV done to the 110. All Twin Cams have noisy valve trains. You should hear one with stock pipes and a windshield…lol. The 110 in the CVOs are the noisiest of the bunch due to the stiff beehive valve springs. You will get used to it and once you do, listen for anything beyond this for engine problems. I would be proactive and get the lifters replaced at 25,000 miles regardless. Many have had lifter failures in the 35,000 mile (give or take) range. My friend had his fail at 37K so he went 117 Stage IV too.
