Default Flush fuel cap issues

I have a 2022 CVO SG . having issues with the flush mount fuel cap. Called my dealer , first words out of his mouth is geez never heard of that ,lol. looked up the part # . apparently they r on there 3rd change up for the cap . I asked if there is a recall on them or warranty as my bike is just over 2 years old , Nope sorry about your luck buddy . Nice work Harley .... put on a defective part and let the consumer eat the bill.

If you have any sweat on your fingers, forget it. Can’t turn it. It looks nice but poor design.

Default 07 CVO Road King flush mount gas cap issues

I agree. I bought an 07 FLHRSE3 with 10,000 miles on it last summer. Riding it home I stopped to get gas and couldn’t get it to pop up. I had to wedge a credit card in the tiny gap to get it open thought I was stranded. It has been a bear since. It will close flush and latch and will 1/4 turn open with gloves on. I bought a 3 pack of rubber jar grippers on Amazon for $4 and use those to get some grip on this smooth chrome nightmare.

now it doesn’t want to pop up. I have to use a small jewelers flat head screwdriver to get it to pop up. Went to dealer Arsenal H-D in Waterford and service mgr said let me check on new part. And yes part has changed at least 3 times.

im think I may buy from Aftermarket Kuryakyn or other before H-D now.

anyone else have good bad success with recent flush mount caps from H-D or Kuryakyn etc. please share.

I think this has been a common issue since they came out with this flush cap (made in China POS).
I took the cap out and tried to service it. Got a q-tip and greased the shaft (.......I know, here come the comments) where the spring rides. I also greased the o-ring. Very light applications on both.
If you look closely at the inside of the cap, you will see a notch that holds the cap down. I used one of my gun cleaning tools to gently go in there and cleaned that up a bit.

It still gives me occasional trouble.....kinda like the wife......but most of the time, it comes off and seats almost like new.

I’ve found the fix for the PIA sticky flush mount fuel cap. Went to Hobby Lobby and purchased a pack of suction cups. They fit pefectly over the fuel cap and works great to grip the cap and get it to pop up. Also works great getting it back down.

2 fingers work fine until they dont work fine anymore. My wife had a Dyna that was purhased with the flush cap and it worked fine for awhile. Eventually it got so bad that I swapped it out for her with a new one. The new one worked fine for a couple of years and then trouble began AGAIN!!! Now my new to me 2016 bBreakout has enountered the same issue.

I bought one for the SGS and then also bought one that I believe was Arlen Ness. They both sucked. I was very happy to just put the stock cap back on. After the headache of the flush the stock looks so much better.

The biggest issues I experienced were on hot days. It would expand and there was no opening it. Then the stupid plastic stick on ring would move around and interfere trying to open it.

Yeah, as mentioned it is a poor design.
