Question 110 upgrades

I have had my 2012 Flhtcuse7 (110) since 8k in 2015. I since then have purchased 2 HD ESP plans and both time have exceeded the cost with the repairs that were done. I have kept the bike stock for this reason. I was at the Dealer yeaterday and asked about another ESP and the cost. Guess im out of luck now. they want 3k for 2 more years as of now however i still have 1 more year left on my existing ESP from them. That would mean 1 yr for 3k. Thats crazy. I knew it would be questionable now with the years and milage. So now that i have that out of the way my question is this. Can i change out the headpipes to say fullsac to remove the CAT and not use a tuner? Another question is does any aftermarket exhaust make any head pipes without a CAT these days? I understand a tuner would be needed with a new full exhaust system. Another question I have is I have read about the weak springs etc to change out to make the 110 reliable. Anyone have info on what to change out to ensure a good reliable engine. I kept the bike stock because of the ESP and if any engine failure happened it would have been covered. Now i can spend that 3k or whatever on the upgrades to ensure a long life for my motor. any help or info is appreciated. Thanks Jeff M.

A tuner would be desirable to get rid of the heat.

What kind of repairs did ESP cover? Were they engine related? If so, the reason you've needed an ESP is because the engine is stock! These engines have valve springs that are too stiff and an aggressive cam that eats lifters. The best mod you can do is to have the heads redone using behive valve springs, change the cams, cam plate and oil pump, and install a great set of lifters. That way the came chest is bulletproof.

When I bought the bike I already knew about the engine issues. I also wanted to have covered the electronics on the bike. I kept it stock to cover any engine failures and all the eletronics. Diring the course of the ESP HD has paid for through the ESP ( my 50$ deductible)... 3 voltage regualators, 2 stators, 3 HK radios, I-Pod module and wiring harness, XM radio module, entire ignition systen replace with new locks and CVO Key and 2 fobs. Oil cooler and lines, fuel pump, and the right hand switch housing. I cant rember if there was much more but that was quite a bit of it. Add the labor to this and I dont think I lost out on the ESP that much.

If you’ve ridden it for over ten years and haven’t had to repair the engine yet then maybe just put some fresh lifters in it and keep on truckin’

And maybe valve springs with less pressure. That's what kills the lifters. Although it looks like you did well with yours. But ten years means how many miles?

FYI: Valve springs can be replaced with the heads on the bike with the proper tools.

If you had all of that work done under warranty, I regret to inform you that you got a lemon. I've never even heard of that must warranty work. Something is wrong with the electrical system.

46k on the bike. I havent had any issues in the last few years. Some of the repairs were my fault like the ignition system ) I broke the wire for the automatic lock when installing tall bars.
My dealer just said.. hey the wire broke right? and they coverd that. 110 engines were notorius for heat causeing some of the other issues. The radios have had a inner diode thay vibrates loose (Known issue) causing the sound to stop working and once i got the radio sent out to Iron Cross radio to repair it by my dealer it hase been fine. Im researching exhaust and looking into the Bassani 2-1 as of now. My local indy who is very good told me to get the sprongs changed and a few other thing to make it very reliable so im planning on that.
