Just put a deposit on an 08 SERK, have only seen dealer pics of the color choice plus a few I've found online, none of them so far give a good representation of the color, don't much like the annaversary color, leaning toward the blue. I live in eastern Canada, delivery won't be until March, gonna be a lonnng winter. I demo'd an 07 SERK while in Laconia, loved it, came very close to buying one, glad I waited for the 08 model. Anybody know where I might view more pics? Thanks
I don't have any pictures, but I can tell you that the ghost flames in the blue are increadible. If I was to go with an RK, that would be the color. The pictures don't do it justice.
Thanks. It's unbelievable that HD does not even put decent pics in their galleries of new bikes.. do they not have a photo dept?? Guess I'll have to excercise some patients, and wait for more pics to surface.I'm 99% certain I'll be going with blue.
IMO, it is very hard to get good pictures of this year's colors. My UC goes from red to burned orange depending on the light due to all the metal flake in the paint. I haven't seen many pictures that can do it justice. Same is true for the RK colors. depending on the angle you can't even see the flames. In all, the colors really pop out in the sunlight. Basically it is so hard to reproduce the 'experience' in a photo. The older colors was much easier to do because they were generally 'flatter' paints.
Get your deposit back, unless you want to experience the head gasket leaking syndrome, cylinder replacment, oil pump failure, crank run-out tolerance issue and engine replacement within the first 5K miles.
Head on over to www.cvoharley.com and read through the 110" threads. There is also a poll going on about the 2007/2008 owners and their experiences with the engine. I'm hoping that things got fixed for 2008. I know it won't be perfect. but over on the other board you'll learn of the issues and how people have gotten around the problems they saw.
My dealer tells me the production date for my SERK will be approximately Feb, until then I will continue to monitor this and other forums for known problems. I believe however, that these forums are a really good place for people who have experienced problems to vent, that said, considering the total number of bikes sold each year, there's bound to be problems with some of them. If nothing else, theseinformativepost's have convinced me to opt for the extended warrenty, at least I'll have peace of mind knowing I'm covered. CVO's are expensive, and an extended warrenty is a small price to pay to protect your investment. In theunlikely event of a malfunction of any kind, I stll have myold reliable Fatboy to enjoy. Thanks in advance to all,for any and all constructive input.
If you opt for the extended warranty, make sure you get in writing ahead of time that they will cover certain modifications. The big problem with the 110's is heat. The way to get around this is to richen up the air-fuel mixture using SERT or another tunner (nothing is available yet for the '08s) and let the engine breath better with a new set of pipes and a higher flow AC. If the dealer will honor the waranty with these modificaitons, then you're good to go. If not, then the extended warranty might not be worth it.
I have the Black Diamond and Silver Dust paint - which is similar. The bike has been fine - no problems at all (fingers crossed for a continuation) since the bike probably has had changes to correct the previous years problems. The brocure at the dealer has some good photos of them (the SERK) pub #99514-08V - they're free.
