I have put the hardware on and mounted a rack for my t-bag. When putting on the rack at first the hoops were too wide apart so that the quick releases did not line up with the docking hardware. With some tweaking and slight bending I was able to get it close enough to make it work. However, releasing the rack from the docking hardware and putting it back on is a pain in the butt. Researching this, I looked at a FLHR at a dealership and and the tire and fender are quite a bit narrower than the one on my 08SERK so I am thinking that this is the problem. The mounting hardware is fine, but the rack is supposed to fit on that hardware with a narrower tire and fender. Has anyone run into this problem? I do not have to deal with removing the rack because I commute on the bike and usually just leave it on. However I am considering a solo Mustang seat and would then like to remove the rack and t-bag when I am not commuting. Thanks in advance!
I hope this helps....for two-up touring applications:
FLHRSE3/4 Touring Detachable Docking Hardware Kit should be H-D p/n 53988-07 NOT H-D p/n 53804-06 (ref. page 412 of 2008 H-D Genuine Motor Accessories and Genuine Motor Parts catalog)
I believe the correct Two-up Tour Pak Rack should be H-D p/n 53276-04 (ref. Docking Hardware Fitment Matrix, page 412 of 2008 H-D Genuine Motor Accessories and Genuine Motor Parts catalog)
if you have the correct p/n's installed, maybe your dealer's service dept can explain why you needed to tweak the stuff to make it fit

what he said, or move the black clips to the outside.
Johny08 you are absolutely right! The dealer threw this and a two up luggage rack as part of the deal and gave me the wrong f@#cking part. I even went back and asked why was this wrong...... Of course that was 4 months and 4k miles ago so I am sure they will not swap it out or do anything for me - I just love incomppetence[:@][:@]
BB...I have found that it reduces both my frustration and stress level to not depend on the less than fully trained Chimps most HD dealers have behind the parts counter, get the parts book out, go on forums like this, and have the part numbers in hand prior to talking with them.If you get hold of a good parts guy at your dealer, hang on for dear life, as they are rare.
If they provided the incorrect parts to you, seems they ought to replace them with the correct ones.
