Default Tour-Pak Mounting Rack Question

I recently sold a 53276-09A Detachable Two-Up Mounting Rack on this forum for an owner of a 2009 Streetglide. He says it will not fit. He sent me this e-mail:

"The back cut-out on the rack does not line up with the tabs on the docking hardware. I can grind the **** out of it in order to "make it fit" also damaging the chrome. Any thoughts or ideas? You said the part number was 53276-09A. Are you sure of this? This is the problem others were having the the earlier models."

I checked with the local HD dealer and he has never had a problem with fitment. Anyone have an idea as to why it is not fitting on the Streetglide?

Is he trying to mount it to the 4 points on the docking hardware? The front of that rack mounts to the rear upper shock mount and the rear of that rack locks in at the rear most docking tabs. I have that same setup and it fits perfect.

As CLL375 mentioned, make sure he is using the 4-Point docking kit.

It won't work with the standard 2-Point docking kit that a backrest uses.
53276-09A

Fits '09-later FLHR, FLHRC, FLHT, FLHX, FLTR, FLTRX, FLHXSE/2 and FLTRSE3 models. Requires separate purchase of 4-Point Docking Hardware Kit. FLHX, FLTR, FLTRSE3 and FLHXSE/2 models require separate purchase of Tour-PakŽ Antenna Relocation Kit P/N 76556-09.

I think he is trying to mount the rack AND already has a back rest attached to the front docking points. Is this possible??

Based on the pic's here...that rack does not mount to shock towers but only to the 4 point dock hardware......

You know, your right, I just went out and checked mine...What was I thinking....Senior Moment!!

The guy may have to pull the sides of the rack one way or the other to get it to slide onto the docking points but NO GRINDING is necessary....

The solo toupak mount is the one that mounts on the shocks and 1st docking point, just like a 2up backrest
