since the fat bob did not exist in 07, does that mean 08 fat bob, 07-08 st bob, and 07-08 fxdse all share the same tank?
unfortunately all dyna tanks except the superglide are listed as 5.1 gallons - so I can't go by just that number.
I noticed that the dash/console for the 08 fxdse has the following hd part#: 61698-08.
since this has a "-08" designation - that usually means that 2008 was the year of introduction of this part.
You're correct, the Fat Bob MODEL didn't exist until this year, but the tank with that name has been around for quite a while. They just decided to make a bike with the name.
As for model number, I'm wondering how you wrenched that from HD! I had a buddy damage my tank with Euro coins while doing about 95MPH on the autobahn two days after I picked up my bike. He promised to make it right no matter the cost, so I had my sis-in-law in rlando try to find out ho much a replacement tank would cost. They acted as if she was asking for trademark secrets, but I know they were protecting the SEs from unwarranted buyers. With my VIN and a $5000 deposit held until I returned the core they were willing to do a swap. I elected to have it repaired and repainted by a local shop. A far easier option. I didn't want to miss the riding season in Europe.
I guess I'll figure this out eventually - plenty of time - it's a winter project for me. \\; Would like to get the 08 FXDSE dash,
but not sure it will fit an 05 WG tank, and cover the hole at the same time?
Your bike looks great
FXDSE looks great right out of the gate - but I like your additions (seat, pipes and heavy breather).
I have a 07 Street Bob and i'm lookin to do the whole dash and tach setup of the 08 SE Dyna on my bike. \\; I've run into problems at the stealer's \\;to (i've been to a few for this project) trying to get part #'s and info on if its possible to even puy it on my bike. \\; So far i've been told that the dash will fit my bike, that it should be a direct bolt on. \\; Glide, i think it would not be a direct install on your bike. \\; Before coming across the SE setup, i was looking at the wide glide dash for my bike, and its definitly not the same as far as the mounting bolts. \\; It may not be impossible, its just going to take a little work. \\; Did you check out the SE Springer? \\; It has a great looking dash as well that appears to be \\;a little bigger than the fxdse, so it me be a better fit. \\; Have you had issues getting info and such from the stealer? \\; I hope when the time comes for me to order everything for my bike they let me. \\; Anyone know if i would have any issues installing this setup on my bike?
