I've got my eye on an '08 SERK but seeing all of the negative feeback regarding oil leaks and faulty gizmoes has me really second guessing. I realize that forums such as this tend to focus negative comments but there sure does seem to be a lot of them. Is the bike really that troublesome?
I love mine, nothing else like it. Did 120 flawless miles today on the Blue Ridge Parkway and could not have asked anything more..if I had two of them, I would be twice as happy. FXDSE2
To be honest, I had to check 'problem'. I've got an '08 SECU, with about 15,000 miles on it. Let me start by saying....I LOVE THIS BIKE! My rear jug had a slight weeping of oil. Nothing major. I actually put on several thousand miles before getting it fixed and never let me down. They did the 'upgrade' about 2,000 miles ago and its running great, better than before and dry as a bone. I also put on Bub7's, an SEAC and a SERT around 10,000 miles. That really helped cool the bike down. You'll hear a few that complain about problems, but I have no regrets.
Same here, no problems at 9500 miles on my 08 SEUC3 Rear jug has slight oil weep, plan to would take it in this winter for the engine thing.
Put over 3500 miles in 15 days last July out west and Canada, again no problems, 500 miles this past weekend, had to take in the last of our 75 degree days!!
All I have done is V&H tru-duals with SE Touring mufflers off my 05 Ultra, and a K&N filter, no fuel managment, no HD stage one, just stock. Runs great, idles good, very smooth on the road. does not run lean after my additions. Your butt does gets hot idling in traffic on a 90 degree day, but it is a big motor, lots of heat!!
The late model 110's already have the factory engine fix/upgrade.
It's a great bike, lots of power!
The 09,s are very limited, so if you can find an 08 go for it. They really hold their value, the blue book is $2500 more than I paid.
Always conflict with this bike...beautiful wife 14 years younger...ride the FXDSE2 or stay home; ride the FXDSE2 or stay home; ride the FXDSE2 or stay home; ride the FXDSE2 or stay home; ride the FXDSE2 or stay home; HMMMMM...sure had a nice ride yesterday, 2+ hours saddle-time! Jim
