Lets hear it
that's exactly why I bought the Rinehart cross-back exhaust.
everybody either has V&H big shot staggard, or big radius pipes on their bike.
I wanted mine to look different.
Reasons?
- Many full exhaust systems do give you a few more ponies, but do so at stratospheric RPMs, often at the expense of low and mid-range (Where overwelmingly the majority ride). American Iron did a report showing the stock exhaust outperforming a full Rinehart system until RPMs went north of 4K or so.
- H-D header pipes are very efficient and very optimized already.
- Air cleaner kits also deliver a little more performance, but typically also only at the upper echelon of RPMs.
- Sound... Have come to prefer the lower and deeper, slightly muffled rumble coming from slip-ons versus more open full pipes, which can be barky and blatty under load, if not hammering and loud at cruise.
- $$$ Saved. Instead of the full pipe, the air kit, the SERT, the tune, the dyno, etc. simply placed the slip-ons without modifying the intake, and the FI adjusted to it just fine.
Yeah, the bike can come lean from the factory but I don't experience any heat or lean related issues. Zero issues after 2+ years of serious riding.
Hot Bagger magazine rated the Supertrapp SE slip-ons #1. It is what I placed. Gained a few HP's where it counts, lost a few lbs, gained a sweet and low rumble, already have the efficient H-D headers in place, like the appearance, and saved major $$$. Would do it again without hesitation. But all this is me.

Can see and hear them in a post I made here: https://www.hdforums.com/forum/harle...eo-images.html
