Baked Ham - SERG
I took my first long ride yesterday, a tad over 500 miles. The ambient temperature was in the low to mid 90's which is average for the South this time of the year. I'm use to heat coming up off the engine and done a couple of things in the past, like RJ's heat shields to move some of it away and put Rhinehart true duals on my road king. I like the way the rear jug deactivates when sitting still, it is a big plus.
I noticed yesterday that the outside of my right "ham" was getting hot, I'm talking about really hot. I had a lot of heat on my right thigh on the Road King before adding RJ's and the trueduals but nothing like this. When I stopped for the day there was a place on my a** that was red, like really red, I told my wife it looked like the ham was ready for dinner.
I'm planning on adding true duals but have been waiting to see who makes them for the '09 touring bikes. Like I said, I bought Rhineharts before, they make great products but they sure are expensive (that sounds crazy seeing that I bought a screaming eagle bike) but I'd like to see what else is out there.
My question to you all is have you changed your headers to true duals and if so what did you use and how happy are you with them?
