Default What Cam+Headwork 08 Ultra?

This is my first post I'm new to the CVO world. I have an '08 CVO Ultra I purchased in April of this year new. I've noticed a knock from the front cyl when not fully warmed up and just dropped it off for the 1k svc and mentioned the noise. The dealer informed me there is a cyl head recall and they will replace the heads due to a clearance issue with the push rod's. I'm not letting them do it until the end of summer so I don't miss too much of the good weather, But before they install the updated heads I'm going to send them out to be ported and polished and possibly milled down a little but not sure about the p/v clearance so I'll find out if I should mill tham or not. While it's apart because I can never leave well enuf alone I want to put Cam's in it and possibly a gear drive. The question is on a heavy bike like mine and staying with Screamin Eagle part's What cam's should I be looking into that will have a rough idle and good mid range power and also how much can I mill the heads? I already have Rinehart dual's s/e air cleaner and race tuner and plan to dyno after work is done.

Does any one have any suggestions? I spoke to the guy's at the dealer and they don't have too much to tell me only that I should go online and see what other guy's have done so here I am. Is it a bad idea to mess with the 110 engine or is it just that not too many people have done it? I have time to do my own research but was hoping someone has already done it and knows a good combination to suggest.

Default cant belive no one responded....

I cant speak for 2008 but on 2006 I went with true duals headers V&H slipons oval cut, sert, set of andrews 501's, and a free flow air cleaner, was told by the dealer the only thing left was head work which I am waiting for a while on. Hp a little low @84 but the torque is 98 so I'm pretty happy currently..just my .02 worth..

The 110 engines do come with higher air flow systems. However, they still come from the factory running very lean. If you were to install free flow exhaust you would also need to do something about a fuel management system. I took my 2007 FXSTSSE to a dyno tuner and used the SERT. By doing this you are able to set different throttle settings to different fuel ratios. For example, I have 13.7/1 at idle and top end throttle. As I reach cruising speed I lean out to 14.1/1 for better mileage. I went from 89 to 95 horses by doing this. Unlike the 96s you could get as high as 18 horse out of them by doing the same thing, including a high flow AC. I have another 09 110 I just bought. I have some top end noise issues with it which I will post about later. I am going to ask if there is a stage one down load for the 110s and will let you know later. Just remember heat is the enemy and ultimately will be the death of the air-cooled engine.

I'm leaning toward's the s/e 251 cam's with porting an polishing the heads and milling them down as much as is acceptable. I've read on another site the 251 cam makes very good mid range torque and I want to stay with HD part's.
