All - Posting from the Middle East - I have an '08 FLHTCUSE (w/ the 113 CID engine, not the 110), that has very recently decided to turn into a dog when I accelerate hard.
The engine runs fine at idle and moderate acceleration, but when I open the throttle hard, it starts missing, obviously starved for either fuel or air.
I am looking for suggestions please, even the obvious ones. I do not have a lot of confidence in the mechanics over here to adequately diagnose / repair the problem.
Bob - the dealer's facilities are somewhat limited (no dyno), but they tell me the significant trouble code is a 'lean fuel' reading for the rear cyclinder. From his inspection of the plugs, this is not the case. He's tried a different fuel map to see if that helped (didn't), so he's re-installed(?) the map for the 50mm intake and 113SE engine. The fuel pressure reads 60 psi, and though the air filter isn't super clean, neither is it near needing to be replaced. The 'cut-out' in acceleration happens consistently at or near 3,500 rpm.
I do not know if it is significant, but the problem(s) started after I had the bike parked inside for 5 weeks while back in the US.
