We aren't going to give them the bike until after the riding season is over... Maybe Jan or Feb. I'll let you know what they say. Highly doubt they will find anything, "normal" comes to mind but I'm going to push on and see what happens.

When I first bought my new Ultra, the oil level was below the full line so I filled it up and kept it there for the first 1000 miles. It used about a half quart of oil and I assumed that was normal for the break-in process. When I did my first oil change, the required amount of engine oil (with filter) was below the full line again with the bike level. That bugged the hell out of me because I knew the right amount of oil was put in. Since it came from Harley that way, I decided to run it and see what happened. The bike only used four ounces until the next change (4000 miles). I did the same thing on the next two oil changes and everything is working fine.

I read online somewhere that Harley dipsticks aren't always accurate and I think they might be right. Try this... When you do your next oil change, add the required amount of oil, start the engine to get everything circulated and then check your dipstick. If it's below the full line, mark it with a knife cut. On mine, it's about 1/4 of an inch below the full line when the bike is upright. If you go above that level, I think it burns off or pushes the extra oil out of the breathers.

My 2007 FXDSE has had NONE of the problems that most others have experienced, and at almost 25,000 miles I have enjoyed the hell out of the added torque and power. The biggest problem with mine right now is the hard starting in cold weather.
