I just bought an 05 SE fatboy. Its coming with a programmed racer tuner. Ive read about it but I'm not getting a USB cord or anything like that. Do I need to get one? Can you order such a thing? Do I need anything else? I hate to be such a girl but I find the whole thing so confusing.

Well being a girl I'm not confused...but if you want to remap&program it at all after the intial yeah you will need a USB which I have a zillion of them and will let you have one...you need to hook it up to your laptop or pc. Good luck and you'll learn we all did(including the guys) as you go along.

Comes with a service manual as long as ya drop him 60 bucks!!! Be nice if they'd pitch one in but I didnt get one from them either. I did have one for my 09 Ulta which would be very close to a SE one. Got it during a 20 percent off sale so not too bad. You can watch ebay for them but not going to see many for the SE line. But a Ultra one would do ua if you can get a good price on it.

So is there a reason for me to remap and program it? Maybe I just need to read more huh?

It depends if you are going to do other things with your bike. Ya know the best teacher is your service manual...but a lot of the guys here are really sweet and will help you out and give you pointers.

I picked up the bike ('11 CVO Street Glide, Black and Orange) late Saturday evening in a nice rain. The dealer just had to ride it before I took it so it was the 1st Harley (out of 10 new ones) I have ever bought (and most expensive) that was not exceptionally clean as I rode it off the lot. I actually trailer'd this one since my wife is out of town and no one was around to drop me off.

1st question is about the iPod; is there an iPod in the pouch in the right saddle bag lid?
I would go look but I am 150 miles away from my bike and won't see it before this weekend.
My dealer mentioned the iPod hook-up but did not say there was actually an iPod in there. HD's web-site says they even throw in the iPod??? I never thought to look and really did not expect they would throw it in.

2nd question is about a service manual; do they come with one or possibly a CD I may have missed? I could have sworn my buddy told me he received a full service manual with his '09 CVO Ultra. Maybe his dealer just provided this for him???

Anyway, I spent all night Saturday washing and waxing the bike since they were forecasting the absolute perfect day for riding and breaking in a new bike on Sunday. They finally got the forecast right!

A few things I would mention about the bike that pleasantly surprised me, one being the shocks; they are by far the best shocks I have ever had or ridden on a Harley.
I've ridden on Koni's, Progressive's, Arnott's, modified stock 13" and 12" stockers and nothing even compares to the new coil over’s Harley uses now. My wife is going to love these!

The engine really surprised me this year being that my buddy's '09 CVO Ultra needed an air cleaner, exhaust and tuner before it was anything but a dud.
Don't get me wrong, it's no powerhouse compared to my '08 with the 113" but they are definitely taking a step in the right direction IMO.

I got the dealer to throw in a new SE tuner with the bike so I'm going with 2" Fulsac baffles this year and calling it good until winter. I may gut the cat but I'm going to do a little more research to see if I need to weld in a plate to separate the air from each cylinder until after it passes the O2 sensors. It seems I read a while back about this needing done if you start gutting things.
Will try and answer most of your questions....

Ipod - Bike should come with a Nano. At least mine did. It will be boxed with the other accessories. You should also get a bike cover, owner's manual, "gold" CVO key, and a rather disappointing tool kit. To use the ipod (and you probably know all this) you need to have itunes on your computer and you can either buy stuff from apple, rip from your existing CD's, or import MP3's from another music service.

I agree with the other poster regarding the CAT. When I bought mine I ordered a D&D 2 into 1, which replaces the pipes and the exhaust, along with a TTS tuner. The dealer said the TTS was a better bet than the SE Tuner. I ran up 800 miles and then brought it back in and had the pipes and exhaust changed out, then dyno'ed. The 2 into one boosted my HP by around 8%+.

You might save yourself a few bucks and rather than replace the slip-ons and tune. Do the whole thing and dyno it once.
