He has the softail CVO and asked if I wanted to try it. Well, hell yea. It felt like my Heritage but with the added power of the 110 was great. But it's still a softail. I want to get a touring frame. The 110 was alot cooler running than the 103.

I'm going to try a Road Glide a see how that feels. I road a older one and was comfortable. If that one doesn't feel good, I'll wait to see what Harley does for 2012.
There is nothing different between the regular SG and the CVO SG except the addition of the amp which is not going to make a noticable different in how the bike feels as far as top heavy.

That’s what I figured too. The regular SG handling should be real close to the CVO but the dealer close to me didn’t have a CVO. I understand there is a SG CVO in Kansas that is the color that I would like but that’s a long way to go to find out I don’t like the bike.

I think a 15 minute test ride is not good way to make a $30,000+ decision. I’m going to rent the bikes and get some real time on them before I drop that kind of coin and find out I’m not happy. I know I’m not going to find a CVO to rent but the regular bikes will give me enough info to decide.

I forgot one last thing...the regualr street glide has the air adjustable rear shocks, the CVO has stiffer rear shocks with preload adjustment. The ride on the CVO may be a bit harder, but it handles better.

The 103 is a noticable step up from the 96, and with a stage 2, (cams, high flow air filter, exhaust and a race tuner) it is a very serious step up. After having been on the 96, 103, and the 110, I will say I would never go back to a 96...just to much difference. As far as handling...I didn't see THAT big of a difference between the 96 vs 103 vs 110 except that the stock 96 obviously is a bit of a dog compared to the other 2....especially when you are riding 2 up.

Having had a Screamin Eagle dyna, and now have the road glide custom with the 103, stock out of the box I don't see much difference in proformance (but the Dyna would out handle the Road Glide, which it would anyway, stock or CVO). If I were you and wanted all of the extra chrome and their "custom" paint, then the CVO is the way to go, BUT IF you are just going to black it out, then save your money and buy a basic 96" bike and spend some of the let over coin and buy the 120R engine to install (you can sell the new 96" and recoop some of the cost).
