Default Need 103 Info

I sold my 02 FLSTFI (95",100hp/100tq) and picked up an 04 SE Electra Glide. I am not familiar with what this particular motor has. I know the heads have SE on them but are they actually different than the stock heads. Up to what size cam (lift) can I run on the springs that are in those heads? What compression is it in the stock form?

My 95" ripped, so I am hoping for even better numbers from the 103 so any info you can provide for my first bagger would be more than appreciated.

I believe they are stock heads.

Compression is prob 9:1. It is a basic, high cube engine.

Thanks for the info. What comp ratio are you running in your 103? What kind of numbers do you have?

I have all HD parts except exhaust. I use HTTC heads, SE 260 Cams. Compression is 9.8:1. I use comp. releases & 1.7 kW starter, nevertheless. I travel too much to worry if it will start! I do not have a reputable tuner in my area & hence chose a carb for my motor. Last year was the last year for Carb Street Glide. Carb is easier to tuner by an "old-time" mechanic.

I can quote you HD "publicity" numbers, but I have not verified these, personally. Seat of pants, is that she is a very fast bike.

Many on this forum have used aftermarket parts with excellent dyno curves & they could advise you about aftermarket cams, etc.

Hopefully PhilM will chime in, he seems to have tried them all!

Good Luck

The CVO heads are in between the Stock and Performance heads, so it can be "EPA Compliant".......

Cams are SE 253's..... Kinda weak for HP/Tq but are okay for the top end.....

Biggest thing you can do for that 103 is to let it breathe..... Most 95's will eat it alive....

Hey Roadside, I have SE 103 fatboy. My previous bike had a 95" with 257 cams and SE heads and it ran away from a 2005 SE 103 Fatboy. I am in the process of upgrading mine to HTCC heads with SS 258 gear drive cams. I already have a Race tuner with upgraded K&N airfilter and Thunderheader exhaust. The last dyno numbers were 92 HP and 100 TQ on a stock 103 with a thunderheader and K&N airfilter. They say with HTCC heads and new cams that it will be close to 120 HP and TQ. Happy Holidays

Thanks for the info guys. At least I have some numbers to work with now. What I learned with building up my Fat Boy was that the valves on the SE CNC ported heads are too big for the 95". Since they were so big they couldn'y maintain enough velocity through them. I had an S&S 585 gear drive in it which probably would have had better numbers with the regular HTCC heads with the smaller valves.

I think I will be sending these heads out to get done this time around. I will be going with 10.5:1 since I had absolutely no problem with that CR on the 95". D&D Fat Cat seems to be the pipe to go with. Cams????? there are so many to choose from you can drive yourself crazy trying to pick the right one. There are tons of dyno sheets for the 95s but I haven't seen many numbers on the 103 which makes the decision more difficult. If you guys know where I can find some built 103 numbers point me in the right direction.

Thanks again.

I'll post my Dyno on a 103", it's reliable to go from coast to coast and runs cooler than most stock Twin Cams (Will post dyno when I log on with my computer, it's not on this one)

As far as a 95" eating a 103" well that's just not true, if both are built alike the 103" will outrun it everytime. A built 95" will outrun a EPA compliant 103" and the 110" built alike with a good tuner the 95" can't stay with the 103" same case for the 103" trying to stay with the 110"

Most people use SE parts because they are concerned with warranty issues, If the bike is out of warranty or you dont care about the warranty, get away from SE parts. If you already have the CNC ported heads they can run up to about 650 lift cams reliable, if it's the 103 heads about 570 would be the max. This is not to down SE parts they really make some good reliable parts, they just don't perform as well as after market.

Cams look at the Woods cams and dyno specs they have with them, HQ has a good line of performers, Pipes if your looking for performance look at a good 2/1 pipe, Supertrapp, or Fatcat, the Supertrapp is the most tuneable pipe on the market, you can tune it eavenly as I have done, or add/remove disc and run the HP or TQ up as much as 10% or even. SE does make a pretty good TB, their 50mm is all you would ever need for a 103 or 110 motor, the down side to SE TB you loose cruise control

There's a lot of motor heads on this site that love to talk big motors and HP/TQ. In the Touring forum there's a about 16 pages of dyno for baggers with all sorts of combo's

06 SG
103"
CNC ported heads with a little extra work
Weisco 10.25:1 comp pistons
Woods 400G cams
Woods 325 cfm breather system
Supertrapp 2/1 with closed end cap 28 disc
PC usb custom mapping by Mike Cats performance
3.37 gears
SE 6 speed gear set in my case

Wow Harleypaw, those are some serious dyno numbers. I am the new owner of an 06flhtcuse with the 103 which the previous ownerdid the following mods to (by the dealer): SE A/C KIT, CARB TC8, EFI PRO race fueler, and SE pipes. The dyno numbers are 88HP and 94 torque.

What can I do to increase these to the 100/100 range for the least amount of coin? Bear in mind, I'll be having the dealer do the work.

Thanks for any advice you can give me.

Mike
