Default Interfacing Fairing Mount GPS

Hi all,

This is my first time posting on this site. Just picked up my 2012 Street Glide CVO today. I had the fairing mounted GPS (with XM) installed. I had ordered the wiring harness that I thought was required to make the GPS/XM play through the radio speakers, but they told me that it doesn't work that way on the Street Glide. The only way they tell me it can interface and play through the speakers is through the AUX port on the front of the radio. Not what I expected. Has anyone been able to incorporate it inside the fairing without having the wire come out of the fairing and plug into the radio? Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Steve

It can be done yourself as well. That's the way I did it.

When you install a AUX jack and rework the radio you can still use the front AUX port but if you don't have anything plugged into the front port you can still use the handlebar controls to stop on the AUX setting.

This link may help but you also need the NIM installed. Maybe your dealer already installed one when he did your wire harness rewire.

In this link is says to cut a solder trace on page 5 and 6... DON'T DO IT. Just remove the transducer shown on page 6. That's all you need.

Not lucky enough to have the CVO but did get the Ultra Limited. I had my GPS mounted to the fairing and the wiring harness that was recommended by the dealership. The sound all comes through the speakers without anything pluged into the front of the radio. The wiring harness is in the 2012 catalog.
