Default Bought another CVO last week

Back in 2000 I bought a new CVO Roadglide. Made a few changes right away, pipes, power comander and dyno tune, then just rode the crap out of it. After two cross country trips, dozens of shorter trips of a few days to a few weeks, lots of day rides, countless commutes to work, it is starting to show it's age. I also put a sidecar on it last year, painted to match. With 12 years and 130,000 miles on it, it's still running good, but some issues have started to show up.

I have a month long trip to Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming and Utah planned for July, so I was considering a major overhaul before then. 103 kit, new fork seals, swingarm bushings, etc., and a long list of other things like all the hoses, figuring on spending between $7-8k, maybe more once I got it apart.

Then I saw another 2000 CVO Roadglide on Ebay, same color, Orange, Black + White. 14,800 miles on it, looked real clean. Price was fair. Emailed and talked to the guy for a few days. Last Thursday I flew to Kansas City MO, picked the bike up 10:00 Friday morning, then rode it 1,653 miles home to Bakersfield CA, pulled into my garage at 1:30 Sunday afternoon. Feels kinda strange having two almost identical bikes in my garage, especially since there were only 750 of those built in that paint scheme. Plus my wife's '05 FLHT. Now I have an almost new, low mileage bike for the trip in July, and I can take my time going through the first bike. And, my sidecar will bolt right on the new bike, already painted to match.

I'm thinking, keep the "new" bike mostly as is, put the sidecar on, set it up comfortable for long rides, and build the "old" bike into a bar-hopping hot rod. 103? 107? 120? Or maybe just restore it back to as close to factory original as I can?
Either way, I'll be looking for some 2000 CVO Roadglide parts, along with a lot of other stuff.

I'll put a WTB add in the classified section, but I might as well mention a few things here: front crash bars, rear saddlebag guards, fairing lowers, (all things the previous owner took off and sold), original height windshield, and other stuff I will list later.

Then there's a few things my wife wants for her bike. She told me, "you spent all that money on a new bike, plus the cost to fly out and ride it back, I want a sound system for my bike". Crap. Can't really argue with her, gotta keep momma happy.

That's pretty damn cool to have the exact same bike! Not to mention, the "Orginial Hot Rod Bagger!"

Congrats on the "new" CVO, and don't, don't forget about mama!

Ride Safe and Enjoy them both,

YELLOWBIRD
