Default Breakout Delayed

Hi folks,

wondering if anyone else with a Breakout ordered was told this? Mine was supposed to ship on 10/3. My dealer called me and said that York had a delay on all Breakout shipments. Not sure if they found a quality or build issue perhaps, or maybe a parts delivery delay in manufacturing?

My revised date is 10/17 for shipping...for someone who likes to have things NOW, this is killing me :-)

I can understand your frustration.
Not too much riding weather left this season and I'm sure that you want to at least as much seat time in as possible but try to be patient.

After reading your post I went down and asked my dealer and was told it's a part problem from a supplier. I hate this waiting thing.

makes sense. the bike has parts that aren't on the production softails, especially in the tank area...and those wheels, of course...

I always thought that the name of the game was, "We give you the bike, then you give us the money," because the company makes money not only on bike sales--but on the money itself collected in the sale of them. By playing coy with products it cheats it's own self out of further profit.

That sucks; hopefully it won't be delayed again.

I'm trying to think what possible benefit it would be to the MoCo to purposely hold back the release of a bike? Not sure I follow your line of thought here.....

Seems to me that only delays their profit since the dealer won't pay for the bike until they receive it?

One reason for a phony delay would be to generate excitement. They announce it before it is due to be released with the goal that folks will go wild and tear the door down getting to one. That's every public relations department's hope. Remember that it's out of the designer's hands now, and out of the engineer's hands too. And it's in the hands of ad exec's and their minions--many of which don't even ride. For them a bike client is no different than a toaster client, a cell phone client, or a presidential nominee. It is a job.
