I visited a dealer 100 miles away that I usually visit when in the areaand sitting on the floor was a UCSE2 in cherrycolor for $225.00 under MSRP.Wife was with me and said I'd better get it. We'll what's a guy to do? Anyway put money down to hold. Issue here...should I waitfor a UCSE3? Do you think Harleywill have the "lean" or heat issue corrected on th SE3? I understand changing pipes, AC,etc.., (just like I have done on my other bikes) because of sound or whatever the reason but to do so after spending 33K+ to help correct a HD problem seems strange.HD should be the one jumping through hoops to make sure the engine is correct.
Do you think they are all having heating issues or as usual you just read more negatives posts?
Let me add, I've been reading this forum for sometime now and it's a great place on info.
You know...I'm not really sure. I heard one of the salesman yesterday use the term and assumed they were refering to the 2008 models.I should have simply stated 2008.
Unless the new models are going to be released in the next month or so, which I don't think is the case(here in the UK its August), I don't think its worth waiting. Sounds like you will put a filter & pipes on anyway, in which case you will need a SERT/PC111, which from all I've read will sort any hot running problems, which means no issue with this years bike.
And you get to ride it now, not have to wait for months.
FLHTCUSE 1st year 2006, FLHTCUSE2 2nd year 2007. Unless the MOCO changes the way they do the CVO bikes you won't see the FLHTCUSE3 till 2011. So far they have made a certain model only 2 years in a row.
I bought a 2007 FLHTCUSE2 the end of August for that reason ... only have approx. 800 miles on it and just install D&D Fatcats and SERT. Dyno appointment later next month ( winter here NW Ohio ).
The little I ran it last fall it is a lot warmer then my 2003 Road King Screamin Eagle 103.
December 29th I purchased a 2007 FXSTSSE 110 , so I hope the 110 motor holds up ( 20 miles on it )
UCSE02 for 2007 make sense now. I'll bet I got it mixed up with the RK as I was discussing both with the dealer. Thanks for the clarification.
Anyway my confusion is I hear that I ought to get certain things done before leaving the dealer to help the "lean" situation, but how can a dealer tune it richer and go against MOCO recomendations and not void the warranty?
Am I worring about nothing?
Have you talked to the dealer where you placed the deposit on the FLHTCUSE2, about doing a stage 1. ( Pipes, Race Tuner, Hi Flow air Filter ) I have only heard rumors of dealers not honoring the warranty on the 07's. I am certain if they do the work they will warranty it.
My recommedation would be to have the stage 1 done to the bike before leaving the dealer, BUT have them use map #84. Break the motor in and after a 1,000 miles have it dynoed.
I have made a lot of calls, got different info. Most say they have not had any overheating issues, but then when you ask further they admit that most go out with modifications. My dealer is willing to put TD pipes, A/C, and either a Stage 1 download or a SERT. He wants to use HD items and is not comfortable with PC or others. He can and will do the others but sends across town to tune. Theysay they will stand behind, but admitted that other dealers may not. They all play the same game so he would think thatothers would but you never know. I just keep reading more and more about '07 110's runnning extremly hot. V & H told me they have them choked down terribly.
I don'tsleep well at night and it's not becauseof my excitment, but rather my worry's about how best to get it tuned so I can ride and enjoy, then also try not to worry aboutneeding assistance if out of state. Anyway, upgrading my '05 RKC is starting to look better all the time and at a fraction of the cost.
I have owned 5 Harley's since 2003. 3 of them CVO Screamin Eagles. I won a 2005 FLHT and have spent 10,000.00 plus on upgrades trying to make it close to a CVO and am still far from it. I can HONESTLY say once you have a CVO you will never go back.
I have a friend that works at Roeders HD in Sandusky, Ohio. 6 months ago He couldn't say enough BAD things about the 07's All 96 and 110's .. Now that they understand them He says they are great... just need pipes...... etc.
The reason I said to wait till the 1,000 service on the Dyno ... I fell it's best to break it in before you let someone run it up to redline RPM's
You say the dealer wants to use HD ... HD doesn't make True Duels .. Or are they saying they want to do all the Mods.
Summed up.. Yes you may spend less building your 05, but it will never be a CVO
