I hear you, and appreciate the imput. If I purchase the CVO I'm afraid I may not want to ride either of my other bikes.

If you look at the CVO forum there's a lot of discussion on this issue.

I was trying to say that my dealer wants to use HD downloads or fuel managment systems and not aftermarket. He will, but prefers not to. As far as the pipes they will put on pretty much what I want. I'm going to give them another call today to see if they will let me talk with the tech thatusually does this sort of thingas opposed to the service manager.

In short, my dealer only recieved (4) CUSE2, with only (2) of them delivered. So they have no history.

Someone made reference to "do the stage 1 before leaving the dealer". By stage 1 do you mean down load (HD) or pipes and air cleaner.

IMHO...the download is not the answer. Pipes and air cleaner are a must to get good performance. You absolutley need a fuel management system to overcome the heat/detonation issues. I have a PC III and like it but I am educating myself on the sert. I am interested in the benefits of the o2s. Good luck.

BTW...after my upgrades my bike runs well. No comlaints except that I also think the MoCo should be sending out bikes that ping in their stock form. I also don't think they will address the issue if it conflicts with EPA regs.

Get the new ride and enjoy. And while you are at it, do something special for that wife of yours. Any wife who says "you need a new bike" is a lifetime keeper!!!

UU, My wife is most definitely a keeper. I have an 05 RKC that we both love and spend $$ on. Then during early last summershe suprised me by buying a Deuce....for me.SHE paid for it!Since then I have spent way too may$$ on it.I include her on most of what I am doing because she doesn't have a problem with it. GREAT WIFE, but I'm off the subject.

Ihave contacted numerous more dealers and found two where I was able to speak to the technican (tuner). He said he was not suppose to say but, they are really lean. Wouldmost definetly recommend changing pipes, Stage 1 A/C, and at least a SERT. No need to do a Stage 1 download if using a SERT. If trying to save a couple hundred then at least get the Stage 1 download. He also claims that he believes MOCO is doing what they can to improve this. Did not say how. I would prefer to run the bike for 2500 miles or so then do whatever mods I want, but on the CUSE it sounds like that would be a gamble.

I may waituntil'08's.I doubtthere will be much of an improvment due to EPA, but maybe, who knows.I realizethe CUSE will probably not bein the offereing, but wouldn't it be cool to see a SE Street Glide?

The SERT or Harley Screamin Eagle Race Tuner .. is a device that plugs into your ECM and a laptop or computer. Once you reprogram your ECM it is removed and placed back in the box. Also once you connect it to your ECM it can not be used on any other bike. The advantage of a SERT is if you make any changes in the future, your mapping ( ECM ) can be tweaked without any addition hardware costs.

As far as riding, you may tend to ride one more then the other. I kind of have a bike for town ( single -07 FXSTSSE ) ), short trips needing storage ( 05 FLHT ) ,and 2 up touring ( FLHTCUSE2 ). I plan on keeping the miles down on my Ultra.

Don't take this the wrong way ... But I think your over thinking this... Yes, it's a big investment ... But I rode my 03 Road King FLHRSEI2 3 years and sold it for only 2,000.00 then I paid for it.

D175, you do indeed have one of the best looking bikes on this sight IMO,and I have been lurking around for awhile now. I'm sure HOGIT isright, I am probably making too much out of this.
Thanks to all for the imput, I have found this sight invaluable now and in the past.

Two things...

1. Go to the EPAs website and you will see that they have mandated regulations that HD must comply with (unfortunately). So the hopes of '08s being better is way off. Probably no change either way. The EPAs regulations are even worse in 2010.

2. The SERT -The Screaming Eagle Race Tuner allows direct access to the ECU programs and their modification. We are, in affect, creating custom calibrations for specific combinations (just like H-D re flash cartridges). The Race Tuner does, however include many SE calibrations in the map files to select from. These can then be modified or a completely new file created if the combination does not match the calibrations part description.
Race Tuner provides a much higher level of tuning than any other device without replacing the ECU itself. Each cylinders fuel and ignition mapping is independently tuned, using three dimensions, resulting in a custom map that eliminates the possibility of one cylinder fighting or holding back the other.
This equals more horsepower with smooth linear drivability. In addition, warm up enrichment, idle speeds, IAC steps, rev limits, AFR offsets, injector sizing can be changed. To help in tuning or diagnostics, Race Tuner also features a data mode to collect and review sensor inputs or other data. Both of these can only be tuned accurately by using a Computer controlled load cell dyno with real time AFR monitoring.

Sanchez,
Are we doomed,
Do you think that some of the performance shope will blow off the epa and go ahead and do the builds you would want. The down side being that the harley warrenty would be voided, but it seems as everything you do anyway voids the warranty. Do anyone really know how the EPA is going to enforse the regs. It seems like everytime I wanted to do something to one of my bikes the harley dealer would say yo know that will void the warrenty
