Default Green Light on Red Breakout!!

The wife gave me the go ahead for the red crimson breakout so now I am looking for a dealer who will give me a decent trade on my 07 CVO springer (love this bike, but I love the Breakout more). Was just going to try and sell the bike outright, but did discover that I am taxed only on the difference between the new bike and the trade in (at least in IL that is how it works), so the difference between selling it outright and trading in shouldn't be much different due to the sales tax I won't have to pay. So, does anyone out there know of a dealer withinin driving distance of North Central, IL that has a red one, or will be getting a red one, or willing to make a trade? I will need to drive my bike to the dealer so I can drop it off. Of course I would actually be picking up the breakout in the spring. I am researching and calling, but if any of you know of a dealer that has a red breakout, or a CVO to trade to another dealer please let me know. Dealers that have/had breakouts that I found through Cycletrader and Chopperexchange:

Capital City HD in Madison, WI (Gold)
Zylstra HD in Ames, IA (Red)
Surdyke HD in St. Louis (Red)

Thanks in advance for any help.

Regarding the sales tax issue, that is the way it works in Vermont too. Also, if you sell the bike personally, you can take a tax credit on the registration form that would keep it equal to or possibly better than a trade in deal, depending on the sales price. Not sure if your state does that, but you may want to check.

Missouri is the same way on sales tax. I bet finding a dealer that will do a dealer trade will not be easy if not impossible. I would get prepared for a road trip

The increase in value over trade price should more than offset your sales tax savings unless you live someplace where its over 10% make sure you crunch the numbers on this before you just assume it will be beneficial to trade------------------selling private can be a hassle but if you don't get within the retail ranges for trade it is worth it

Not exactly riding distance, but i know that Mid-Ohio Harley(near Columbus, OH) has a crimson on the floor that just arrived and currently is not spoken for. I also know they are asking MSRP and nothing more....

You will love it. I just got back from a 2 hour ride in the bright sunshine and 50 degree fall weather here in Central Ohio....killer bike!

Heck, I must have it made....my wife was begging me NOT to trade in my 2008 FXSTC Custom when I bought the Breakout.... :-)

Ah, the CVO Springer....I was this close to buying a 2009 version 3 years ago....the only thing I know of that could improve the Breakout would be a springer front end....it's kind of sad there are no springers in the current HD lineup at all....

Check out CVO forums. The 3rd party classified section has plenty of listings for the breakout.
