i cant seem to unsderstand the thinking behind them not making them again. just as the RG seems to be getting more popular by the day they cut them off? is ther another touring bike entering the line up? or we only going to have the bating and RK to pick from?

Retooling for the shark nose supposedly. For each one put on a bike, they throw away
3-4 of the noses...

I was at the Harley dealer this weekend and the salesman confirmed the Road Glide would not be in the 2014 line-up.

He did have some interesting thoughts as to why. He feels the Road Glide will reemerge in 2015 as Harley Davidson's first water cooled V-Twin. He suggested The new engines cylinders and heads have already be chambered for cooling passages. He also thinks that the bikes lower fairings will become a mandatory fixture as they will house the radiators for engine cooling.

This all kinda makes sense. Out of the four touring bike I.E. Ultra Glide, Street Glide Road Glide and the Road King the Road Glide sales numbers are the least and would result in the lowest loss in profits to the touring line if dropped for a year.

It's reemergence in 2015 as Harleys first liquid cooled bike would most likely increase it's sales over all previous years sales of the Road Glide. This could also be the implementation of a larger engine 110 And be the only model other than the CVO's with a 110 engine. This could push the new Road Guide to the front of the touring line as far as sales. Liquid cooling could also allow tuning more hp into the engine and still meet EPA specifications.

Further implementation to the other Glides could be easily done the following years especially after a years R&R in the public's hands.

That covers all the touring bikes except the Road King. Hmmm, Wonder why the CVO Road King for 2013 has fairing lowers. Maybe to get us use to the idea.

Of course this is all just speculation. But make you think why is the fugly not in the 2014 line-up
