I would be more upsed than you. Mine is way more than I would ever have thought to pay for any vehicle and is only my 2nd HD. If I had your issues and response from HD, I would have invoked the lemon law and never have gone back to HD.

There are too many good motorcycles out there and peer pressure doesn't affect me on purchases.

Ducati has made a tourer out of the Diavel called the Diavel Strada. It would not be as good as the RG on long hauls but a 140hp, 82ft-lb, 540lb sport cruiser? I could live with the short comings including the "futuristic" look of it vs the "traditional" look of the RG. This would be the RG's replacement if things go bad.

Look up the Magnuson-Moss Act concerning modifications voiding warranties. Even though the write up for the SE Super Tuner says it may void the warranty the law says different.

Good luck getting things right.

You are a very patient man, wish I was. Your patience will pay off in the long run. I had the same issue with my '13 CVO Breakout and was told during my trip to the dealer to sort it out it needed a tuner. It also ran hot as h**l. I said oh, and just to confirm I asked if it was covered by warranty. Bike is 2 months old and less than 1k miles. Was told that it was not a warranty item but is required if I want the bike to run properly. ?????!!! Took it in 4 times in total, no fix. Out of patience I purchased a second licence for my Power Vision, got a tune from Fuel Moto, and put on a set of V&H slip-ons to get rid of the cats. Like a different bike altogether. Fast forward a couple of weeks and I take it in to get it's first service done at the dealer to maintain warranty. While booking it in service manager asks if backfiring issue is resolved. I said, yup, downloaded a PV tune and changed mufflers. He immediately tells me, "no warranty for you", that in doing so I voided all my warranty! After a heated discussion, which went nowhere, I told him to stick his first service and $400 oil change and left. No point in spending that kind of money on a service I can easily do myself to maintain a warranty I no longer have. The fight with the HD mothership has begun!

I feel your pain.

Good Luck!

Perhaps a class action would get a better response, all we need is a few hundred bikes doing the same thing.

Sweet! I hope H-D is lerking here.

I have a 2014 CVO limited, it coughs and backfires so I had SERT put on, Vance and Hines True Duals and Rinehart slip ons, backfires even more now. Dealer lost their only guy that does Dynos, but definitely needs to be tuned. Standard mapping didn't help

Sadly though! I am becoming accustomed to it.

Wife was standing next to it on Sunday when it coughed, she jumped back and looked startled, she asked what the hell was that? I said What? she said the bike just jumped or something. I chuckled and said, Yeah, it does it all the time.

Are you rehearsing for your new job at the dealership??? LOL!

Default cough

Costal I have the 2014 CVO limited with about 3000 on it, I also have the intake cough. Agree that they should provide the tuner or provide a custom map for those that have this problem.

I will be stopping by dealer and complaining then will call the hot linbe to bitch.
Let me know if you get any resolution

Backfire when? During startup or during decel (letting off the throttle).

My 13 CVO Ultra backfires sometimes during startup and decel. I have had it DINO'd and SE Supertuner put on it, along with replacing headers and mufflers. Bike sitting at a Stage II for tuning purposes. Has 13k on it now. These CVO's make all kinds of noise and burps. It's the nature of the beast.

Have them turn the DECEL table down/off and see if it helps.

Just ride it like you stole it!

Every cvo I know of since 2012 has a issue with this. Most spend tons of money because they had it when they bought it to get rid of it.

Going thru some similar crap with my bike, but progressively worst. You need to get the records for every time you take it in and make sure they are correct and show the symptom and diagnosis/work they did. Also check with your DMV on your states Lemon Law and leverage it to its fullest extent. Once you have exhausted your patience and feel you are no longer making progress file the Lemon Report with your state. NY is 2 years, 18k miles and cost 250 to file. Do not put up with there BS and if you feel your in over your head get a lawyer for advice and go frm there.
