Default Lemon Law

Thinking it might be time to file a claim, been dealing with the backfire thru the intake since the day I picked the bike up, it's been to the shop several times and the response is typically "buy a super tuner" or "we don't know what to do".

Anybody else experience a cough or backfire on the CVO 110 motor?

look up "lean cough" while im nto a cvo or EFI guru, thats a common occurance when the fuel mix is a tad on the o lean side
a cheap cure might be XIED/VIED's other then that a thourogh and proper dyno tune si abotu the onyl steadfast cure i know and that would require a fuel managment module liek the Power commander etc with a base map for your bikes configuration

I believe you are 100% correct, lean is cause.

Here is the problem.

According to Harley, they cannot not re-map the CVO, they only have the ability to flash the ECM with the most current version provided by the manufacturer, they cite in-ability and EPA Law as the reason. They (being the dealerships I have taken the bike too) have all recommended that I purchase a Super Tuner and map the fuel myself. While I have done this many times on many bikes and cars, I don't feel that I should have to lay out $650. for the tuner and cables when I purchased a new 38K bike, I also note the small technicality of possible warranty void because the tuner clearly states for off road use.

At the end of the day, this is more about forcing Harley to fix the bike and not having to lay out any more dollars to have what I initially paid for.

If this was an older machine, this would not be a concern, I would have purchased the tuner, adjusted to my liking and rode off with a smile.

That sucks. I am in McAllen, TX and my bike has been in 3 times for warranty work. Small stuff but none the less. Bike cost too much to deal with this. They are put together like ****.

If it is a stock CVO then it must run properly from the factory. I could give a crap if they told me I needed a tuner. If it needs one to run correctly then I would insist that they pay for it. It's like buying a new car then having to add other components to make it run. Sorry for your problems, hope it turns out well for you.

Exactly!

It's not the money, it's the principal. And I told them so. Waiting on a call back from customer service for the 4th time in as many months.

the EPA mandates a set AFR fro mthe factory that afr is lean and causes coughing. you "shouldnt have to frig with the tune or buy a super tuner but to run "properly" withotu a cough and lean condition you will.

as i said try XIED's
http://sales.nightrider.com/XiED-Fue...ement_c_1.html the yare cheaper the na fuel managment system and full dyno tuen and are fairly plug and play and so long as you remove them before service wotn void your warrenty

I agree with what you say. But I guess the CVO is different monster. I have been on quite a few new stock bikes and none of them had any back fire or cough issues with stock pipes and air cleaner. Sure they run hot that way but they do run properly.
