Hey all I have a cvo springer coming in end of April was at dealer yesterday to check on it. Was told by service manager that the sert was not street legal and would not install, if i did it would void part of my warranty. I have a shop that I've been going to for many years, non Harley dealer but very high performance harley orientedCycle-rama and know that they would do a better tune. But I'm worried about warranty any thoughts would be greatly appreciated
Is it a California dealer? The SERT is the best product. I had the same hasle but got it done. I could not live with my bike pinging, runing hot, etc, as it does factory. With the SERT it runs cooler, does not ping, more power, its a happy motor. good luck
I just had it done to my 07 SE Ultra. Did a SE Air cleaner and true duals. The difference was incredable. If it is CA, CARB has recently backed off so many dealers are now doing the install and dyno. My shop said no problem with the warranty (factory and extended). A lot depends on your relationship with the dealer I think.
If I had a HD dealer that told me SERT was not street legal and that he would not install it, I would:
1) TELL HIM HE IS AN IDIOT!
2) Immediately find a different dealer
3) Would NEVER allow that dealer to touch my bike, let alonetune it
4) There are HUNDREDS of HD Dealers in the US that will not only install SERT on your bike, but will HIGHLY encourage you to do it and they WILL GLADLY HONOR YOUR FULL WARRANTY.
5) If anything, SERT will make your bike run PROPERLY and should ENHANCE the prospects of your motor NOT needing any warranty work.
Well there, now that I've PO'ed everyone - my work is finished here.
