Default Question about finding CVO

Possibly interested in a CVO Limited next spring or wait for 2015's. Curious how most of you got your CVO. Did you just see it at dealer, call around and find it at another dealer or get your dealer to order it? Is there a way to search dealer inventory? I think dealers can do it but have not seen a way for private individuals to search. I've searched Cycle Trader but appears several dealers are posting ads for everything HD makes whether in their inventory or not, sort of a bait and switch or they will order.

My recommendation would be to find a good dealer you trust that doesn't mark bikes way up and tell them what you want. They can do searches and get the bike for you.

As for my CVO, I knew I wanted one of the 2010 FLHXSEs when they were announced. The Spiced Rum was the color I wanted but they were just too expensive. I didn't buy one knew but waited and watched over the next couple of years as the new models came out and then found the exact bike I wanted with low miles and at a great deal. Sometimes it pays to be patient! Good luck finding your CVO... best bike I have ever owned.

Mine was a walk-in impulse buy. I have always been a fan of the CVO and was wanting a Road Glide. Saw mine on the floor and it was an anniversary model to boot. It was like a 3 way win - Road Glide + CVO + Anniversary Edition #379 = Happy Guy!

Thanks JD. Guess I started this process as I contacted my favorite dealer about 30 miles away that I wanted to discuss a possible future purchase. Do not know yet how they are price wise. Guess I'm fortunate to have 4 dealers within 30 minutes that I can compare. Two I know are high way above MSRP and the 3rd is where I got my Limited but do not like the sales or service people. Have to say pricing on my Limited was pretty good though. The 4th I like basically everyone there except never bought a bike from them so want to give them first chance to make a sale. Their service, parts and accessories purchase experience has been all good to date. The technical part of me says wait till 2015's come out to give HD a chance to work out the new design issues.

Started at my local, put the word out at several dealers as I stopped by, one dealer took me serious enough to get the bike I wanted so I bought it. Took about 4 months.

Dealer had a couple of CVO Ultras on the floor in early December. Asked my salesman if the CVO Street Glides sold before hitting the floor and he said yes. He checked when the next one was due in and the color. I was not sure I wanted the Ruby Red / Typhoon Maroon 2012 CVO Street Glide so I left the dealer with a CVO brochure. I saw one the following Saturday at different dealer which was already sold and went back to my dealer to put a deposit down. Picked up the new Street Glide at the beginning of March.

It took me 2 years to get my CVO.
I found a cvo Ultra I liked and went in to trade for it. I wanted a CVO street glide, dark charcoal. While I was getting my bike trade in value They rolled out the bike I was after.
Sit on it and had to have it. This dealership was just bought from the previous owner. They gave me a good deal.

Saw the first one I wanted on the dealer floor and bought it at MSRP. Second one put money down in Jan and was the first on the list to pick what I wanted as soon as the models were released in Aug. Didn't like any of them so I got my deposit back. Bought a brand new model left over from the year before still on the dealer floor for well below MSRP. Good luck

I hadn't even been thinking about getting a new bike, much less a CVO.
I loved my 2010 Streetglide and had it exactly as I wanted it.
I looked at the new SGs with all the "Project Rushmore" changes, and while I liked them all, noting made me have the urge to give up *MY* bike for a new one.

They tend to put the in-stock CVO's right as you walk in the door at St Charles HD (missouri).
For a week or so they had a RK in the emerald green, and while I love that color, it didn't really grab my attention on a bike that much.
Then I went back a couple days later and it was sold and replaced with a sandstone colored one.
I hadn't even thought about a RK until that moment. I walked over, looked at it a while and then I decided to pop off the ugly windshield.
As soon as I did that, I fell in love with it.
Met the wife there later that day and showed her....she gave me the conditions of what I'd have to do & get out of trade and sale price to give her OK.
Went back the next day and actually exceeded her target numbers. Went home, prepped my SG for trade-in, and brought the CVO home that night.

So from not even thinking about it to pulling it into my garage was about.....28-30 hours.
